Disney World Resort hotels offer Disney Refillable Mugs for guests to purchase and use for free refills throughout their vacation!
Here, we are answering the most Frequently Asked Questions about the Disney World Resort Refillable Mug Program.
Disney Refillable Mugs Overview
“Refillable mugs” are 16 oz. insulated coffee mugs sold at Disney hotels in the Resort’s primary Counter Service location. Guests are entitled to unlimited free refills on fountain drinks, coffee, and tea from participating beverage locations at Disney resorts for their length of stay up to 14 days.
The Rapid Fill program allows Disney Resort guests to buy a Resort mug that can be refilled for a certain period of time, as designated at the time of purchase. Guests participating in the Disney Dining Plan also receive one per person as part of the package.
These mugs are enhanced by an RFID bar code which enables the mug to deactivate when the designated time is complete.
Mugs used to be considered collectibles, with each Disney resort offering unique patterns for their mugs. But starting with the Year of a Million Dreams, the mugs have been standardized no matter where you purchase them. That said, there are occasional changes in design.
What do the current mugs look like?
The most recent Refillable Mug made its debut in February 2026. Artist Jerrod Maruyama designed them!
Maruyama is a freelance illustrator who has made a name for himself within the Disney community because of his unique yet adorable take on classic characters and icons that we all know and love.
The current design features purple, blue, orange, and pink lid choices to help your group more easily discern which cup belongs to whom.
Disney Refillable Mug FAQ
How much do Refillable Mugs cost?
Refillable mugs are available for one flat price of $22.99 for the length of resort stay of up to 14 days, no matter how many days.
The most recent price increase happened in October 2024.
I’m on a Disney Dining Plan. How do I get my mug?
Guests participating in the Disney Dining Plan may pick up their Resort Refillable Mug at any Resort Hotel’s Quick Service restaurant (even if they aren’t staying at that particular Resort). The My Disney Experience app tracks all of your Disney Dining Plan credits as well as the redemption of your Refillable Resort Mug, as seen in the screenshot below:
In our example above, you can see that our Dining Plan participant has redeemed 1 Table Service Meal and 1 Snack, but still has TWO Refillable Resort Mugs to pick up (one per guest on the reservations; the meals are tracked by the individual guest.) All Disney Dining Plan participants have to do is pick up a Refillable Resort Mug, bring it to a cast member at a register, and they will walk through the redemption process from there!
I’m resort hopping. Do I need to purchase a new mug at my second resort?
Nope! Refillable Resort Mugs may be filled at ANY participating Resort beverage station, even if you aren’t staying there (or staying at two or more different Resorts during your trip, commonly referred to as a “split stay”).
This benefit is good for the length of your entire trip, up to 14 days, regardless of resort/resort.
What beverages are available for Disney Refillable Mug refills?
You can have your mug refilled with coffee, iced or hot tea, soda, and hot chocolate.
*COOL INFO:* It’s interesting to note that most refillable mug stations have some sort of Hi-C lemonade/fruit punch option OR red/blue Powerade.
What beverages aren’t available for Disney Refillable Mug refills?
Most notably, milk and “real” fruit juice (e.g. no OJ or Apple Juice).
Will they refill my frozen margarita at the pool bar?
No. But you get points for creativity.
BONUS! Select pool bars — including Petals Pool Bar at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, The Drop Off Pool Bar at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and Banana Cabana Pool Bar at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort — have 24/7 refill stations.
EXTRA BONUS! And select Resort hotels — including The Market at Ale & Compass (at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort), and Primo Piatto at Disney’s Riviera Resort — feature Coke Freestyle machines! In fact, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort even has Freestyle machines in select guest room buildings.
(Remember: you do NOT have to be staying at a specific Resort to refill your mug there!)
Check with your resort front desk to make sure you know all the locations where you can get refills at your hotel.
May I only use the Disney Refillable Mug at my resort?
No. Mugs may be used at any Disney-owned resort on property.
Can I save my mug when I get home and bring it back to use on all my subsequent Disney trips?
No. The RFID chip will not function (and, at this time, cannot be reactivated) on your next vacation.
Okay. So, how do the RFID bar codes work?
You can find our step-by-step directions for the process here.
Any other cool stuff you should tell us about the Disney refillable mug program?
YES! Each self-service refillable mug location has a MUG WASH!
That’s right — there’s a little sink right next to the soda-pop dispensers that you can use to wash out your mug. Comes in very handy when switching between your drinks of choice…say between Coffee and Powerade?
Is purchasing a Refillable Resort Mug worth it?
Well, let’s do the math: the out-of-pocket cost of a fountain drink or a regular sized coffee in Disney World Resort food courts averages around $4.79 a pop. If you enjoy soda and think it’s likely that you would purchase 4-5 individual sodas (or any of the other refill options) throughout your vacation, purchasing a mug could be a good idea. Plus, you get to keep it as a fun souvenir for when you get home!
DFB readers even have some thoughts to share when asked, with 95% chiming in to say that they feel the cost of a Resort Refillable Mug is worth it. DFB Reader Julie said: “Yes! Got my coffee in it every morning. And once when my hubby and I both got sick at Disney, we went multiple times a day to get hot tea!”
Brad even went so far as to convince others that the mugs were worth it: “Absolutely. I went on vacation every year as a kid growing up and we got them. I knew their value. Last year I went with my wife, son, and inlaws. They didn’t want them, but I did, so I got one. By day 2 everyone had one lol…. Also, I miss the resort specific ones. They were so cool.”
John even likes to start the day by refilling the mugs before hitting the parks: “Love waking up early & walking down with everyone’s mugs to get coffee before the rest of the family wakes up. It’s how we start each day.”
Matthew voiced disappointment at not having bought one for a recent trip: “I will next time I go. I decided not to do it for a 3-day weekend trip because I figured I wouldn’t need it as much. I grossly underestimated how much I would spend on drinks in that 3-day span.”
Jen said she uses her refillable mug at home: “Yes. We use them for coffee in the mornings, a drink on the way back to our room and beverage to go with the 2-3 meals we eat at the food court and it easily pays for itself. Plus you get a souvenir. Makes a great travel mug for coffee!”
Heather said even though you can’t refill the mugs for free in the parks, they are still useful on park days: “I buy them so I can take a beverage with me on the bus, then pour my soda from the quick service restaurants into it during the day. I have my own straw that way and a lid.”
Bonnie said: “Yes! We get a lot of use out of them and they make great souvenirs! I use mine while in my home office during Teams meetings – gives me a bit of the magic when I’m not at WDW.”
According to Jessica, “Yes! 1. they are so cute! 2. you can use them in the park for ice water which stay cooler longer than in the cups they give you. 3. we stop by the soda fountain on the way back to the resort and fill up which just helps save on the money we spend on buying can soda, because we only take one can in the park per day in our cooler, rest of the time is water. 4. it makes for a good cup of coffee for a morning car ride which makes my mornings much better.”
That said, a few readers didn’t feel they’re worth it. Jillian doesn’t feel her group ever needs them: “We used to, mainly for coffee. But we haven’t since coffee makers were added to all the rooms. We are not big soda people.”
Carolyn said: “Nope! We only drink water and coffee so it’s not worth it for us, plus it was a pain to run out and get coffee while we’re in a rush trying to get ready to head to the parks — much easier, cheaper and more convenient to make coffee in the villa.”
