Well, we’ve got some…not-so-great news out of Disneyland Resort, and honestly? It’s something we NEVER saw coming.
Over in Toontown, you’ll find lots of different attractions for guests of all ages to enjoy. You can tour Mickey and Minnie’s houses, take a ride on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway or Chip ‘N’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster, and dine at Café Daisy or Good Boy! Grocers. However, there’s one ride here that’s been slightly scary for basically all of time, but it’s still lots of fun — that was, until this major issue took place.
We had begun to hear rumors that Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin in Disneyland wasn’t exactly behaving as it should. Normally, part of the fun of the ride is that it spins you around and around in each scene, making it extra fun. It was starting to be reported, however, that the ride no longer spun and that there were scenes of the ride guests were actively missing because of the direction they were facing during the spins.
We hopped on the ride ourselves, and sure enough, not only did our car not spin, but we were BACKWARDS 90% of the time, meaning we missed practically the whole ride! We were stuck facing the car behind us, and they were facing forwards, so we just stared at each other…the whole time. This ride recently reopened from a refurbishment, and our assumption is that, since the car still spins during major scenes, it’s only because they’re pre-programmed to focus on the plot details. Otherwise, there’s no more spinning. The wheel of the car still moves, though it’s for no reason!
If you’re heading to the park soon and want to ride, we recommend requesting the back car instead of the front, as the issue seems to only be affecting the front cars. We did speak to a Cast Member about the issue, and while they indicated they’re aware of it, there’s no telling when it’ll be fixed.

We had the EXACT same thing happen to us right after it opened. First we had no idea the spinning mechanism was gone so we kept trying to spin it and about half way through we gave up. Also, our car basically faced backwards and the one in front of us basically faced forwards. It was awful. At the very least just have both cars face forwards so you can see everything.
Have they sabotaged it so ridership drops and they can use that excuse to replace it? It used to be an awesome ride, what the heck Disney? 😦
