Disney Visa Cards are well-known for their Disney perks. From travel deals and ticket discounts to merchandise savings, there are a lot of perks to taking a Disney trip as a Disney Visa Cardholder.
The only issue: What happens if you don’t want to take a Disney trip?
Let’s look at some of the most popular perks available to Disney Visa Cardholders:
- When booking their trip, Disney Visa Cardholders can finance their trip with 0% APR for 6 months on select Walt Disney World vacation packages.
- An exclusive Stitch Meet & Greet at Hollywood Studios.
- 10% off on select Disney World merchandise purchases.
- 10% off at select Disney World and Disney Springs restaurants.
- 15% off select guided tours.
- 10% off select Disney hotel recreation experiences.
- 20% Off Joffrey’s Coffee purchases (excluding alcohol) at Disney World and Disney Springs.
Now, all of those perks are hugely beneficial for anyone taking a Disney World vacation; there’s no doubt about that. However, sometimes even we want to do something different from time to time. Don’t get us wrong, we love Disney, but not for every single vacation, and when looked at from that vantage point, there aren’t many travel benefits to a Disney Visa Card.
Now, we will note that the aforementioned 0% APR for 6 months park can also be used for bookings on Disney Cruises, Adventures by Disney packages (which provide trips around the world to destinations including Africa, Europe, Asia, and South America), National Geographic Expeditions, and even trips to AULANI, Disney’s resort & spa in Ko Olina, Hawaii, so there are savings to be had on trips to destinations outside of the Walt Disney World and Disneyland resorts. However, those trips are once again Disney at their core.
If you’re looking for some perks for non-Disney travel, other cards may offer more useful and robust perks packages. For example, the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card offers Cardholders the option to redeem points for Chase Travel bookings or transfer points to one of Chase’s 14 valuable airline and hotel partners for a $95 annual fee. The Capital One Venture X Rewards Card has a $395 annual fee, less than those of more expensive competitors in the luxury space, and offers a 10,000-mile bonus every account anniversary.
While Disney Visa cardholders have access to a litany of travel perks to visit Walt Disney World and other Disney destinations, those looking to travel beyond the House of Mouse may be better off looking into other card options. Stay tuned to DFB for more travel tips.
