There’s no denying the appeal of visiting Disney World during a special time of the year.
However, reality is that there are certain days that will likely be better spent in the comfort of a Disney World hotel.
4th of July
4th of July is ALWAYS a crowded day at Disney parks, and considering the holiday falls on a Saturday in 2026 and it marks America’s Semiquincentennial (AKA the country’s 250th birthday), things will be especially jammed. In other words, even if you’ll be at Disney World during the first week of July, you’re likely better off spending the day relaxing by your hotel pool. Plus, if you choose your hotel right, you’ll be able to see one of the fireworks displays right from your hotel.
Christmas Day
While many guests choose to spend the Christmas holiday at Walt Disney World, it may be nice to spend Christmas Day itself at your hotel. You can have a full Christmas morning in your room, even decorate a bit, and relax most of the day, enjoying the amenities and laid-back environment.
Then you can grab a holiday dinner from the resort’s restaurant. Plus, if you don’t want to sit down at said restaurant, certain Table Service restaurants at Disney hotels offer Mobile Order Table Service To Go. You can mobile order the same way they would at a theme park, pick up your food at the restaurant during your selected arrival window, and carry your meal to another area of the hotel or your room to eat.
If you’re having trouble deciding which hotel offers the best Holiday dinner for your family, our Guide to Disney World Dining has all the information you’ll need to make the best festive choice!
New Year’s Eve
Even July 4th’s crowds generally pale in comparison to the massive crowds that pack the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT on New Year’s Eve. Whereas you can have a nice — comparatively quiet — dinner at your hotel, plus — once again, depending on which hotel — see one of the midnight fireworks shows.
However, one word of warning, you may need to make sure you’re at your own hotel, as in previous years, prime fireworks viewing spots like the Polynesian’s beach (which is usually open to the public) have been available exclusively to the hotel’s guests on New Year’s Eve.
If you’re planning on spending some major days in Disney World this year, a few of them may be better spent at a Disney World resort. Stay tuned to DFB for more takes on vacationing at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”
