There’s arguably no more iconic Disney World experience than watching the Magic Kingdom’s fireworks from Main Street U.S.A. However, that’s not the ONLY spot to catch shows like Happily Ever After.
In fact, some experts would argue there are some even more interesting views of the show (especially beyond first viewings)… if you know where to look.
Top of the Main Street Train Station
Watching from the platform atop the Main Street Train Station provides a unique perspective above the massive Main Street crowds, while still providing views of all of the fireworks and projections. Plus, it also provides the quickest way out of the park once the show ends.
A Ride’s-Eye View
Another option, if you’ve seen the show a few times and want to see it from different vantage points, is to try timing a ride on the Astro Orbiter or the PeopleMover to catch part of the show from the elevated vantage point of these Tomorrowland attractions.
You can also catch an amazing view of the fireworks while riding the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Fantasyland, though this is much trickier to time given the fact that the Mine Train’s wait times never usually fall.
Fantasy in the Round
If you’re looking for a unique, 360-degree fireworks experience, stake out in Fantasyland near Prince Charming’s Regal Carousel. You get a really fun perspective of being surrounded by the fireworks on all sides, thanks to the various launch points around Fantasyland. Once again, this option is best for those who’ve previously seen the show in full, as you won’t be able to see any of the front of castle projections.
Outside the Park
There are some great views of the Magic Kingdom’s fireworks to be had OUTSIDE the park’s berm! You can hop the Monorail over to the Contemporary, where there are TWO vantage points:
First, you can make a reservation to dine at the top of the Contemporary at California Grill. While this is a pricey prix-fixe meal, the dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning views of the Magic Kingdom. Plus, it has an outdoor fireworks viewing deck. Regardless of whether you choose to watch the fireworks inside or outside, they pipe in the music and dim the lights. Before booking your Advance Dining Reservation, make sure to check for current Happily Ever showtimes in the My Disney Experience app.
If you don’t want to spring for the grill – or have other dining plans – you can check out the fireworks from a viewing deck right outside the Grand Canyon Concourse. You do not need to be a guest of the Contemporary to watch the fireworks out on the deck, and there are even a few seats available. Word of warning, though: You should get there early, as the deck fills up fast. If the deck is full, you can go up the staircase to the left of the viewing deck and walk up to an empty floor to also watch!
You can also make your way over to the Polynesian Village Resort, where you can see the shoe from the hotel’s beach (though be forewarned, on certain Holidays and other occasions, Disney will close the beach to anyone except hotel guests), or if you want to dine while watching the fireworks, the Island Tower’s Wailulu Bar & Grill is an open-air restaurant that has fantastic views of the fireworks.
Next time you’re planning to catch a Magic Kingdom fireworks show like Happily Ever After, consider one of these comparatively off-the-beaten-path viewing areas. Stay tuned to DFB for more expert thoughts on the Magic Kingdom.

Riding the flying carpets during the fireworks is also awesome, then after you can walk on the Jungle Cruise which is a far better experience in the dark!
New Fantasyland near Gaston’s Tavern or against the wall by Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a great spot to see the fireworks if you don’t mind missing the castle projections.
Chris, oh wow — I’ve ridden Big Thunder Mountain and Seven Dwarf Mine Train during fireworks and it was great, but I’ve never tried Magic Carpets — I’m totally stealing your idea :), that sounds awesome!
