Disney has finally opened up the gates! Frozen Ever After in EPCOT closed on January 26th, 2026, to make way for some major updates to the popular ride.
We previously learned that the ride was scheduled to reopen with changes on February 12th, but Disney has reopened the ride EARLY! We were some of the first to hop in line and check it out, so now, we’re bringing you a look at all the changes. WARNING: spoilers ahead!
Disney has reopened Frozen Ever After EARLY! The ride’s audio animatronics have finally been updated after initially opening in 2016. At the time, these animatronics were some of the most impressive ones we had ever seen! They brought the characters of Frozen to life, including Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff.
They were the first animtronics to be entirely powered by electric motors and manufactured using 3D printing techniques. However, the faces were projected using animation, which didn’t age as well over time. The faces stood out compared to the bodies, and in all honesty, just looked a little wonky as they aged. In 2023, Disney introduced this attraction to Hong Kong Disneyland with new animatronics that went viral because of how lifelike they were!
So, because of that, Disney decided to change the EPCOT version of the ride with these animatronics — and we’re thrilled they did!

We’re so excited that this popular ride has finally reopened at EPCOT! There are still multiple ride closures around Disney World — like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom — that we’ll be on the lookout for. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest updates!

Did they update the trolls at the beginning, too
It is sad that WDW Corp has such a poor exhibit for Frozen. Even with the new animatronics the building and the ride itself are not up to standards this popular and beautiful movie deserves. In most International Disney Parks Frozen receives the respect it deserves. Meanwhile, Pixar’s movie Cars gets more respect. Could it be because Frozen was Walt’s idea? Yes in the 1930’s Walt created Frozen. It took years and hold ups before it actually became a movie but still – it was Walt’s idea and dream. The USA Disney Corp does all it can to destroy Walt’s dreams. Take a look at Tokyo Disney – USA Disney has no control of how they spend their money – they use their money to promote Walt and his dreams.
