For those who live in the Orlando area, or for those who have a car when they’re visiting Disney World, you’ve probably dealt with the stress of what is parking at Orlando International Airport.
Now, parking at the airport can often be quite a hassle, and finding spaces can sometimes prove to be downright challenging. However, the airport has committed to making parking better for visitors, thanks to a new $10 million project. Well, we’ve got an update on that project, and it’s coming to fruition sooner than you may think.
According to The Orlando Business Journal, Orlando International Airport is planning to add an additional 8,000 parking spots by 2030, which is a response to complaints about how difficult it is to find parking at the airport. However, the airport is also building a new system for reserving some parking spots, as well as a parking guidance system to help you find spots that are open, which seems like it might be similar to the parking at Disney Springs.
New parking spots will be added to the parking garages at Terminals A and C. Now, 2030 might seem pretty far away, but the new digital system that will help you find parking will make its debut later this year, starting in Garage C, while installation of the new system at the other three garages will continue through next year.
Orlando International Airport also has other improvements in the works, including replacing boarding passes with facial recognition technology, connecting the airport to the SunRail commuter line, renovating the airport’s restrooms, and upgrading the baggage handling system.
The airport is also bringing 40 new shopping and dining locations to the airport, including some local favorite restaurants, as well as some popular chains.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more Orlando International Airport updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
