Construction is ALL OVER Disney World right now, as you likely very well know due to the walls practically everywhere, but we’re also keeping a close eye on how construction is going, because it gets us excited for what’s to come.
Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, two different lands are under major construction — Animation Courtyard is becoming The Walt Disney Studios, and Muppets Courtyard will be a new land themed to Monsters, Inc. We just got a look at how construction is going in both lands from a bird’s eye view, and we’re VERY excited!
Starting over in The Walt Disney Studios, thanks to @bioreconstruct, we’re able to see that concrete demolition is underway in certain parts of the land to make way for new additions.
We can also see that concrete forms are being worked on, and some concrete has already been cast closer to the Disney Jr. show building. The show, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, will be new to Disney World, with it already running over in Disneyland. It’s kind of funny to see the Mickey Mouse banner looking over the construction — I guess he wants to keep a close eye on it!
We’re so happy to see that things are moving along so well. This land is currently expected to reopen in time for summer this year, so let’s hope things keep moving along at this quick pace. While it’s definitely coming along, it’s hard believe we could be a few months away from this opening. Considering it just looks like a dirt lot, and we have no idea what’s happening inside the Magic of Disney Animation, let’s cross our fingers that everything is moving as it should. There are a LOT of projects happening in 2026, so we’re just hoping everything is sticking to its timeline.
We’ve also got an update on the new Monsters, Inc. Land coming to the former home of Muppets Courtyard, and one of the first things noticed was that all PizzeRizzo signage is now officially gone. Most recently, the sign on the roof was removed.
However, further into the land, it looks like some theming from Muppets Courtyard still remains, so it appears Disney hasn’t been as focused on removing that signage just yet.
The biggest update, though? Take a look at the area for the new show building that will hold the roller coaster in this land — it’s MASSIVE!
Disney is working on concrete right now, but you can also see where concrete forms are on top of the floor. Earlier sections and conduits are being buried in sand, hence the difference in color seen below. We cannot BELIEVE the scale of this thing — and if it looks this big from the sky, we can only imagine what it’ll be like walking up to it in person.
The hanging door roller coaster will be the first of its kind for Disney World and will let you enter the world of Monstropolis with Mike and Sulley. It looks like Boo will make an appearance, too!
