It’s not always fun to get to Disney World and find out that your favorite ride, restaurant, or even pool is closed, but it happens. More often than not, though, at least we have some kind of notice when these temporary closures happen.
The Disney World calendar keeps up with a lot of these closures, plus you’ll find messages on the website about them, too. However, just in case you miss any, we try to make sure you keep them in mind, as well. With that being said, we’ve got a Disney World water park closure to remind you about.
Typhoon Lagoon will close on February 15th, 2026, so if you want to have some fun at that water park, you’ll want to make sure you get there by February 14th (yep, Valentine’s Day!). However, this is just a temporary closure, and it happens often. This is when Disney does maintenance and basic refurbishment to make sure that everything is up to par when it reopens later in the year.
During that time, it seems that one of Typhoon Lagoon’s big attractions, Humunga Kowabunga, will also be getting some updating. Disney filed a permit for construction on the attraction, so we’re expecting some needed maintenance or updates to happen.
If you still want to get some water park fun in, though, Blizzard Beach will be reopening on February 15th, after being closed for refurbishment for some time. After that, you’ll have to trade the shipwrecked island theme of Typhoon Lagoon for the snowy, wintry resort of Blizzard Beach if you want to spend some time at a Disney World water park.
From May 26th through September 8th, you’ll be able to visit Blizzard Beach for free on your arrival day if you’re staying at a Disney World Hotel. This could be a good perk to take advantage of during those warmer summer months.
We’ll keep an eye out for more closures in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB to keep updated.
