Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland has always been more than just a themed land. It’s a fully immersive planet where storylines evolve, characters roam freely, and now, we’re getting brand-new surprises.

Hey R2!
From the moment guests step onto Batuu, they’re transported into a living galaxy far, far away, and now Disney has confirmed that some notable changes are on the horizon. The beloved Droid Depot is getting some updates on the West Coast after April 29th.
One of the most iconic interactive experiences in Galaxy’s Edge is Droid Depot. This is where guests can build and purchase their very own droid companion, choosing parts, colors, and personality chips to create a custom BB-series or R-series unit. The shop has long been framed as a bustling workshop run by the Mubo family, and it’s a must-do experience for Star Wars fans of all ages, especially those who want a hands-on souvenir that actually moves, beeps, and reacts to the land around it.

Droid Depot in Disneyland
Disney has now confirmed that “an earlier generation of the Mubo family will be taking over operations” at Droid Depot. The change in management will be prototyping the BB style of droid. The good news? Guests will still have the opportunity to purchase and build their own droid companion just like before, so the core experience isn’t going anywhere. We will still get to see R2D2 in the store, as well as some new droids from the original Star Wars period.
