We love hearing about new restaurants opening up around the Orlando area, because, hey, while we are DISNEY Food Blog, we also love exploring options outside the park and around the city, so you know where to eat if you’re exploring!
We were invited to check out a new spot that just opened up about half an hour from Disney Springs, and when we heard it had a focus on chicken and sauces, we said YES, PLEASE! Saucy! by KFC has just opened in Orlando, and if you like bold flavors, you’ve gotta give it a try.
To begin, let’s take a look at the menu here — you’ll find a few different Tendie Combos, some Saucy! Flavor Combos, as well as a Rice Bowl Combo, a Salad Combo, an option to feed a group of four for one price, a Kids Meal, and a dessert called Puffies.
On the backside of the menu, you’ll find their TWELVE different sauces listed, additional Bites and Loaded Bites they have, Drinks, Sandwiches (that are only $3.99!), Late Night snacks, and Party Boxes to feed large groups.
So, yeah, we were VERY excited! We got to try a little bit of everything on the menu, but our personal favorite was the Saucy Loaded Fries. These are their crinkle cut fries loaded with queso and bits of chicken tenders. This is considered a side, but could definitely be an entree considering how filling it was! The queso was perfectly rich and creamy with great flavor, and while it isn’t overseasoned, it is more like restaurant-style. It paired really well with the chicken and fries, and we’d 100% get it again.
Here are our quick notes on the other options we got to try as well:
- Saucy Ranchero Sammie: This was too soggy and fell apart almost immediately, making it very hard to eat. We wouldn’t get it again
- Chicken Tendies: These are the standard chicken tenders available, and while they weren’t anything crazy special, pairing them with sauces took them to the next level
- Puffies: These are smaller versions of beignets with three sauces. The powdered sugar didn’t stick super well, which was a bummer since the sweetness was needed. They weren’t the best, but they were a good attempt at beignets!
We also got a chance to try a large majority of the sauces available, but our absolute favorite was the Creole Honey Mustard, thanks to its incredible seasoning that fit the chicken perfectly. It was just sweet enough to bring out the spices in the sauce, which made it a real winner. The other sauces available are as follows:
- Saucy’s Sauce
- Chimichurri Ranch
- Saucy Ranch
- Smokey Bacon Ranch
- Salsa Ranchero
- Caesar
- Jalapeno Pesto Ranch
- Thai Sweet ‘n Spicy
- Korean Sweet Heat
- Sweet ‘n Saucy BBQ
- Creole Honey Mustard
- Sweet Teriyaki
We look forward to returning and trying more of the sauces and menu offerings as it continues to operate, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all our latest reviews!
