The theme for Magic Kingdom in 2026 is CHANGE. EVERYTHING is changing in Magic Kingdom. Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island are gone FOREVER while Disney builds a new Cars-themed expansion, Piston Peak, in Frontierland. A new Villains land is being built behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which is also currently under construction for some new updates. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is even getting updated.
Well, that’s not all, because the ICON of Magic Kingdom is also changing, starting this month. Disney has plans to repaint Cinderella Castle, starting this month, and that’s going to impact some entertainment in the park as of January 28th.
While Disney repaints Cinderella Castle, three shows that happen at the Castle will be making some adjustments. That includes the “Let the Magic Begin” welcome show that you can catch when Magic Kingdom opens. That show generally takes place on the stage in front of Cinderella Castle, so it will need to make adjustments while the castle is being repainted.
Another show that will have to adjust its performance somewhat is Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, which also takes place on the stage in front of the castle. We’re not sure exactly what kind of changes these shows will need to make, but you’ll want to be aware that they might not be the same while the castle is being repainted.
Finally, the biggest and brightest (literally) show in Magic Kingdom will also be adjusted while the castle is being repainted. That would be Happily Ever After, Magic Kingdom’s nighttime fireworks show. Again, Disney has not yet confirmed how this show will change, but it could be a little different if you’re viewing it during that time.
We’ll be checking out these changes on January 28th to let you know what to expect, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB to stay updated.
