We have a reminder for you if you are heading to Disney World in 2026! While Disney World’s biggest draw is the theme parks, Disney Springs is also a very popular destination with plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment. Admission and parking are free, making it an excellent option on non-park days. However, Disney Springs might be a bit more chaotic in 2026, and we have all the details on why!
Parking is about to get a bit more limited, and we don’t want you to be caught by surprise! A construction project is about to begin that might impact your Disney Springs visit, and we want you to be prepared.
The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) will start a “Lime Garage Maintenance Project” early next year to fix up all levels of the parking garage. The garage will be closed beginning January 12th, 2026, and the project is expected to be completed on March 13th, 2026. The plan currently includes a temporary reopening for President’s Day Weekend, from February 12th through February 16th. Here is a full look at the schedule:
- Closed: January 12th through February 11th
- Open for a short window: February 12th through 16th
- Closed again: February 17th through March 13th
- Reopening: planned for March 14th, 2026
The project plan states that CFTOD is trying to “minimize parking disruption” with an “aggressive schedule to coincide with minimum disruption of holiday coverage.” It sounds like the plan is to get the work done quickly and efficiently, as it was also stated, “work shall be completed in phases, and Contractor shall work with the District to minimize disruptions and facilitate maximum garage capacity and operations around work zone(s). Contractor shall note this project has a critical schedule and a required completion date.” While CFTOD is trying to minimize disruptions, the closure could definitely impact your trip to Disney Springs in 2026!
The Lime Garage is one of Disney Springs’ parking garages. It offers over 2,000 parking spaces and direct pedestrian access to Disney Springs Town Center. When the Lime Garage is closed, the Orange Garage, the Grapefruit Garage, and surface parking will still be available. However, during busy times, the closure of Lime Garage could make it challenging to find parking.
If you’re staying at a Disney World Resort, don’t forget you can use their free bus transportation to avoid dealing with parking! While Disney Springs can get busy at any time, the evenings and weekends are the busiest, and trust us, you don’t always want to deal with parking far away and walking in, especially if the Lime Garage is closed.
We will keep you updated as this construction project begins and how it is impacting the crowds and parking situation at Disney Springs. We are in the Disney World parks every single day, and we are always on the lookout for the latest news so you have the most up-to-date information for your trip! The parking management at the 3 Disney parking garages at The Springs was absolutely a game changer out of the box guest friendly perk that everyone is greatful for. My question is, did Disney invent this system of locating available spots by floor and lane or did they improved and existing system that was already in the market. I love this system and credit Disney for bringing it to the masses. Also, did Disneyland have it first, or WDW…?
