Construction is ALL over in Disney World right now, but Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to TWO different massive land overhauls, which means lots of walls (and that’s not even counting the smaller construction projects happening around the park).
Muppets Courtyard is in the process of becoming Monsters Inc. Land, and Animation Courtyard is undergoing lots of changes to become the new Walt Disney Studios area. We’re beyond excited for what both of these projects will bring, but for right now, they’re behind walls, and we’re just getting slight glimpses whenever we can.
Starting over in the former Muppets Courtyard area, there’s not too much that has developed, but it’s clear that any mention of The Muppets is gone. It now just looks like tons of brick buildings, with a few having blank spots where signage used to be.
While the iconic clock is still there, there’s no signage for Muppet*Vision 3D anymore, and any nod to the former theming is totally gone at the front of the land.
The new land will be themed to Monsters, Inc., and the story of it will pick up after the events of the popular Pixar film. Humans have now been invited to visit the world of Monsters, Inc., so we’ll be able to “stroll the streets alongside some of your favorite monsters” and even visit the Laugh Factory!” according to Disney. It’ll also be home to Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster!
Over at the former Animation Courtyard location, soon to become Walt Disney Studios, all mention of Star Wars Launch Bay is 100% gone.
We’re curious to see how the outside of this spot may change as construction continues, because from looking at Disney’s concept art, it’s going to look VERY different. In fact, this should be where we’ll see the iconic blue Sorcerer Mickey hat!
Part of this new land will be The Magic of Disney Animation, where animated characters will come to life and leap from their portraits. “Off the Page!” is a collaboration between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering, where you can meet characters across six unique departments from the animation studio:
- Story
- Layout
- Hand-Drawn Animation
- Computer Animation
- Lighting
- Effects
“Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!” will also be coming to the area, which will be fantastic for kiddos to dance and get some energy out. Or, you can spend some time at the Drawn to Wonderland playground, inspired by Mary Blair’s original concept art of Alice in Wonderland.
We’ll continue to keep you updated with all the latest Disney World news as construction continues, so stay tuned to DFB!

Scary,… we loved what we had…Muppets, Mama’s, Rizzo’s, it was great. The question to be is will the imagineers meet, fall short or surpass guest expectations. When this area opened, it surpassed by leaps and bounds both Disney and Guest expectations. When the current administration took control around 2026, things changed and the Imagineer team and vision was different.
