Packing for Disney World can be tricky, because there’s honestly SO much to think about, but that’s why we’re here!
We’re in Disney World nearly every single day, and that means we see firsthand just how essential certain items are. We’ve also witnessed what it looks like when someone FORGETS an essential at home, and then needs to purchase it in the parks, and therefore spends way more money than anticipated. We’re here to help you avoid all the troubles — this is our ULTIMATE list of the items you’ve got to pack for Disney World, and why you SHOULDN’T wait to buy them at Disney, because you’ll be spending an arm and a leg!
Keep The Rain From Ruining Your Day
There are few things worse than getting soaked in Disney World from an unexpected rain storm, and then walking around with soggy shoes and a dripping wet outfit for the rest of the day (especially if you’re in jeans — we’ve been there). Disney ponchos are not only egregiously expensive for a piece of plastic that will get a hole after one use, and stick to you on hot days like you’re baking in an oven. Instead, snag yourself our FAVORITE poncho of all time, the FROGG TOGGS Poncho, and ensure you’re not subjected to a Disney poncho on rainy days ever again!
A Reliable AND Replaceable Portable Charger
FuelRod stations around Disney World have saved our butts on more than one occasion, because when our FuelRod goes dead, we can head over to a station to replace it with a fully charged one at no additional cost! However, we’ve noticed that while we love traditional FuelRods, they don’t last as long as we’d like. That’s changed with the FuelRod MAX10! This is also sold at stations around the parks, and is replaceable like the others, BUT it holds a charge for WAY longer. However, we do recommend purchasing it online ahead of time to save a few bucks!
If You Prefer Traditional
However, if you’d prefer to stick with the original and don’t mind heading to a FuelRod station more frequently to get a fully charged one, the normal FuelRod is also a great choice. We have numerous members of our team who use these daily in the parks, and find them to be useful, give a solid performance, and don’t have any glaring issues. Again, though, they are cheaper to buy online ahead of your trip, so we recommend adding them to your bag before you even head for the parks.
Hate Wet Shoes? No Longer An Issue
Even when using a poncho or umbrella of any kind, your shoes are often left unprotected. If you’re wearing sneakers or any closed-toed shoes that don’t do great with getting wet, or don’t dry quickly, the Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers are something you’ll really want to look into. We’ll be honest, the first time we saw these, we thought they’d break and we’d hate them, but that’s FAR from what happened. Instead, we don’t head into a knowingly rainy day in Disney World without them, because as long as you’ve got them zipped all the way up, they really do a great job at keeping your feet dry. When you’re walking 10+ miles? That’s invaluable.
A Water Bottle That Won’t Let You Down
No matter what time of year it is in the parks, it’s of utmost importance to have a water bottle you can count on to keep your drinks cold, stay closed, not get super germy by accidentally opening (or a straw brushing against stuff — gross), and something that’s durable. The Owala checks all of those boxes easily, and we adore that there are tons of Disney-inspired designs available online! However, you can also check out their dozens of other color designs that fit your everyday style, if you don’t want one specifically Disney-themed. This is truly a water bottle that’s never let us down, and we don’t think it’ll disappoint you either!
A Small Breeze May Save Your Disney Day
While having a mini fan may not seem like a big deal, especially on hot days (because you may be thinking, “it’s a tiny fan, how much can it really do?”), but we’re telling you now that the JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan is absolutely worth it on those warm (and downright miserably hot) days. Not only does it give you a great breeze, just like a good fan should, but it folds up small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, AND it doubles as a portable charger and flashlight! If your normal portable charger goes out or is dead, you’ll have a backup to help you out, and when you’re taking all the photos and videos possible to remember an unforgettable trip, that’s important to have.
Don’t Regret Forgetting Cooling Towels!
Another item that’s very helpful for keeping you cool on hot days in the park are cooling towels, but did you know that Disney’s will cost you $23?! That’s a LOT to pay for one cooling towel, especially when you may only use it for Disney World. That’s where the Sukeen 4pack Cooling Towels come in! Not only are they MUCH cheaper and come in a pack of four, so many members of your family can use them, but they genuinely work very well at keeping you cool. It could be the difference between an unbearable Disney World summer line and one you can withstand to ride your favorite attraction.
Get All Those Autographs!
Getting autographs at meet and greets in Disney World is very important for some guests, and if that’s you, you’ll want to grab the Mickey and Friends Deluxe Autograph Book with Pen before your trip! It’s a few dollars cheaper online, which is important, because every penny counts, but this way, you also know one is already packed and don’t have to stress about finding one on your trip.
Never Chafe Again
Words can’t express how uncomfortable it is when you realize you’ve chafed somewhere on your body after you’ve walked miles around Disney World, but you have more days of your trip left to go, and you’re worried the clothes you brought will cause you to chafe even MORE. Grab yourself the Megababe Thigh Rescue Anti-Chafe Stick to avoid this situation entirely, especially because you won’t find anything like it inside the parks. Avoid the problem before it even starts — trust us, we’ve been there, and DO NOT want you to be in the same situation!
Never Worry About Silverware Again
Finding silverware in Disney World can be tricky, especially if you’re someone who prefers to not use disposable silverware. Help the planet out AND make sure you’re never stuck silverware-less again with the Reusable Travel Utensils Set! For one price, you can get a set of four, meaning you can split them between your family members/group, or bring a different set in the parks with you each day. They’re also relatively easy to clean — just head to a Disney World bathroom to rinse them off, or use napkins from restaurants nearby, and you’ll be good to go.
Never Use Those Flimsy Paper Straws Again
If you’ve been in Disney World and had to use those paper straws that disintegrate in your mouth after a few minutes and make it hard to enjoy your drink, you’re likely similar to us and never want to use them ever again. That’s why we recommend the Sunseeke Silicone Straws! Not only do you get six different straws that are reusable, but you can also clean them easily with the two included cleaners, and easily store them in the four included cases.
You Need Reliable Shoes
Having the right shoes for Disney World is so important, we honestly sometimes struggle to put into words how badly it can go if you DON’T have the right shoes. The “right shoes” may be different for everyone too, as it depends on the shape of your foot, but for us, we’ve never been disappointed with the HOKA Clifton 10 Shoes. We have former Cast Members on our team who said these are the only shoes that didn’t make their feet hurt after 8+ hours on their feet, and reporters of ours who thought they’d despise them, and now find themselves wearing them on their own accord. They’re expensive, yes, there’s no way around that, but they’ll last you a LONG time, and that’s very important.
Keep Those Hands Clean!
Disney is full of germs. Sorry, it’s gross to think about, but it’s true. We always find ourselves using hand sanitizer — after a ride, after touching a railing, before we eat (although we prefer, and recommend, you wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, if you can), basically all the time. The Touchland & Disney Special Edition Hand Sanitizer + Mist Case is not only adorable because it’s Disney-themed, but we love how it not only cleans our hands, but moisturizes them as well. It’s easy to attach to your park bag, which is another huge plus — consider it a big recommendation from us!
An Umbrella That Serves TWO Purposes
When you think of an umbrella, you likely only think about how it can keep you protected from the rain. That’s important, yes, but why not get an umbrella that can do TWO things, which you can’t find in the Disney World parks? The BAODINI Travel Essentials Mini Umbrella is a huge necessity, especially for spring and summer Disney World days. It won’t only keep the rain off of you, but it’ll also bounce the sun’s UV rays back towards the sky, which will keep you MUCH cooler. The first time we used it, we could easily tell that it was 5-10 degrees cooler under the umbrella!
A Reliable Park Bag
Choosing the right bag for the parks is harder than you may originally think, and it depends on the size of your travel party. If you’re a parent (or the parent friend) and find yourself carrying everyone else’s items, you’ll need a larger bag, but if you’re looking for something just for yourself, we recommend the ODODOS Daily Sling Bag! This was super comfortable during a long park day and had lots of pockets to help us keep everything organized, but was also small enough to help us avoid overpacking.
No Need to Go All The Way to First Aid
While each Disney World park does have first aid to assist you with minor cuts and issues, sometimes you’re all the way across the park, and who wants to walk all that way if they don’t have to? Grab yourself the KeepGoing Travel First Aid Kit to bring with you instead. It’s got everything you need in a small container, so it’s easy to put in your bag, and it’s also friendly for kids to use as well. Not to mention, you can bring it with you to other places as well, so there are lots of different uses for it.
Never Run Out of Outlets
If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, or even a Good Neighbor Hotel, you may find out the hard way that you don’t have enough outlets to charge everyone’s electronics. The last thing you want is for someone to not be able to charge their camera, phone, or watch, so avoid the issue all together and snag the Flat Plug Power Strip!
Charge All Your MagicBand+ in One Place!
If you’ve got multiple members of your party with MagicBand+, and you each want to charge them every night to ensure that they’re ready to go for the next day, we highly recommend packing a MultiCharger for MagicBand+ to bring with you. This way, not only are you using only one outlet/port for numerous items, but you’ve also got them all in one place. Or, if you’ve only got one MagicBand+, you can use the other USB outlets for other tech items.
Get The Best Sleep You Can
Staying at Disney World hotels (and again, sometimes Good Neighbor Hotels) means dealing with thin walls. Or, perhaps your room is situated near a busy hallway or pool, which isn’t ideal for taking naps. Grab yourself the Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine to get a peaceful night’s sleep! This is another item that, being honest, we thought was going to be overrated when we first got it, but instead, we found it to be incredibly helpful. It’s got 16 different sounds to choose from, as well as 31 different volume levels to help you find what’s perfect for you. Plus, it’s so tiny it fits in your bag easily!
Charge All Your Apple Devices in One Place
If you’re someone who’s got a whole Apple suite that they’re bringing with them to the parks, the HICOBER 3 in 1 Charging Station for Multiple Apple Devices is something you’ve gotta pack to make your life easier. While the icons here show charging your AirPods, Apple Watch, and iPhone, if your Apple device has wireless charging capabilities, it’ll work perfectly. It’s another one of those items you may not know just how much you DO need it until you don’t have it.
Make Doing Laundry Easy
For those who are staying in Disney World for a longer period of time, you may choose to do your laundry at your hotel to wear some clothes over again, or just to avoid going back home with a suitcase full of sweaty, dirty clothes. To make it easier to bring all your clothes over, snag the Collapsible Mesh Pop Up Hamper! It’ll take up little to no room in your suitcase, and will help you avoid dropping some of your items on your way to and from your room.
Easily Keep All Your Toiletries in One Place
When we’re traveling, we want items that are going to fit as many items as possible while also taking up the least amount of space. When it comes to toiletry bags, the BAGSMART Travel Toiletry Bag wins by a mile! We have members of our team who use it every time they travel now (whether by car or plane), and all agree that we adore how many pockets there are. It’s also mess-free, as the material is easy to wipe down if something happens to spill.
An ULTRA Powerful Fan
Are you someone who notably gets more warm or sweaty and want to ensure you can really keep yourself cool in the parks? Look no further than the AMKEN Waist Fan, which is SUPER powerful. You can put it on your waist, wear it around your neck, or place it on a table and blow it directly at you. It does make more noise than normal in comparison to other fans, but if that doesn’t bother you, we say it’s totally worth it.
Never Deal With Excessive Back Sweat Again
The VentaPak Lightweight Ventilation Backpack Spacer is another item that we thought we’d try once and then never use again in Disney World, but we’re committed to trying all the “essentials” out so you truly know what’s worth your money. As it turns out, this is VERY helpful in not only making sure your posture stays straight while you’re in the parks, but it also allows airflow between your back and the back of your bag, which avoids that annoying patch of sweat that often forms at the small of your back. It’ll keep you more comfortable as the day goes on, which is very important on long days.
Keep Your Loungefly Organized
If you’re bringing a Loungefly into the park, you’ll want to keep it as organized as possible. That’s hard to do in the regular bag, since it’s usually just one big main pocket with a smaller front pocket, but that can all change with the HOYOFO Mini Backpack Organizer! This adds pockets to your bag and makes it much easier to find whatever it is you need. No more digging around incessantly to find your Chapstick.
Never Spill Your Popcorn Again
For those who often grab popcorn buckets to refill throughout their trips, you won’t want to go to the parks without the GRIFITI Strong Elastic Rubberbands. These may seem unnecessary, but sometimes the lids of these popcorn buckets don’t snap as tightly as you want them to, and that leads to spilled popcorn. Avoid that entirely with these to keep it closed! However, when you take them off, just be sure not to lay them on the ground, because they have a habit of picking up surrounding debris.
We’re constantly trying out new products to help you find the ones that will make your Disney World trips easier, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB!
