When it comes to traveling to Disney World, you may think there’s no way around spending TONS of money, but there are more ways to save than you may think!
Saving a few dollars here and there may not seem significant, but it can quickly add up, and before you know it, you’ve saved $100, which is quite the win! If you’re heading to Disney World and are planning to grab some essentials, and even some specific souvenirs, while you’re in the park, grab them online first to save!
The Original FuelRod
When it comes to charging your phone in the parks, there are other portable chargers that we feel are stronger, but FuelRods have the unique ability to SAVE YOUR BUTT in the parks (we can say that because it’s happened to us many times). There are FuelRod stations throughout the parks that allow you to either buy a new pack (that comes with one FuelRod and a charging cord) for $40, or you can replace your dead FuelRod with a new, charged one completely for free. However, you can purchase TWO FuelRods, plus the charging cord and other items in the kit for just $45 — that’s basically two for just over the price of one!
The UPGRADED FuelRod
However, there’s also a NEW type of FuelRod available at certain stations in Disney World, and that’s the FuelRod Max 10. It’ll cost you $80 inside the park (with all cords included), but you can buy it all online ahead of time for $75. While $5 may not seem like a lot, it adds up, and we’ve been VERY impressed with this charger — it’s powerful, lasts a long time, and again, you can replace it in the park if it DOES die.
Rain, Rain, Go Away
We love our Frogg Toggs Poncho and bring it with us nearly EVERY trip, because it’s high-quality, roomy, comfortable, and even comes with its own carrying case. It’ll cost you about $13 online, while a Disney World poncho that’s nowhere near as good a quality (and will probably rip after one use) will cost you around $13 for adults and $10 for kids. But why buy something once for the same price you could buy something that will last you years? Trust us, it’s worth investing in one.
Cheaper, But Still Good Quality
If you’re looking for something that’s a little cheaper online but is still better quality than the Disney poncho, the Cosowe Rain Poncho is the way to go. We’ve also tried this one out and find it to be pretty good, but since it doesn’t come with a carrying case, it is a little hard to fold back up afterwards.
If An Umbrella is More Your Speed
If you’re not a poncho fan, and you want something that can function well to keep rain off of you AND keep you cool on sunny days, the BAODINI Travel Essentials Mini Umbrella is a great choice. In the parks, or around the Orlando area, you’ll be looking at paying about $18 for an umbrella (and it very likely won’t be as compact and won’t be UV resistant), but you can snag this one online for about $14! Saving $4 and getting an umbrella that does TWO things instead of one? Yes, please!
Don’t Fall For The Sunscreen Scam
When the sun is out, there’s a risk of sunburn, no matter what time of year it is. Don’t get stuck without sunblock and realize you need to pay around $14 in the parks (no, that’s not an exaggeration, unfortunately). Snag yourself the Banana Boat Sport Ultra SPF 60 Roll On Sunscreen before your trip and pack it in your bag extra early. You’ll feel great knowing you only paid around $5.50!
Stuck Without A Fan? Yikes.
A fan in Disney World on hot days can make the difference between a warm, but bearable day, and a day that has you on the ground wishing for an ice bath immediately. We love the JISULIFE Portable Neck Fan, which will cost you about $35 online. That’s not nothing, that’s for sure, but here’s the thing — Disney doesn’t really SELL these types of fans in the parks at all, so it’s not something you can just impulse buy. When you’re able to get a little bit of relief on a wildly hot day, it’ll feel priceless.
Cooling Towels Can Be SO Expensive
Now, Cooling Towels ARE sold in the Disney World parks, but ONE will cost you around $20, and they’re not super great quality. Instead, snag yourself a 4-Pack Sukeen Cooling Towels online for under $13, and know that you’ve saved $10 and gotten THREE extra towels!
Don’t Miss Those Autographs!
To get all the autographs in Disney World you want, we recommend snagging an Autograph Book. Online, it’ll cost you just over $12. We also prefer to grab it online so we can customize the book ahead of time, however we’d like!
Save BIG on Bubble Wands
Finally, Bubble Wands in the parks can cost you anywhere between $35-$40, depending on the style, and that’s a LOT to pay for something your kiddo may only use during the trip, and then never touch again. However, you can grab some Disney-style ones online (with a refill of bubbles!) for just $20 — talk about big savings!
