We recently stumbled across a fun snack tradition in Disney World that could make for a magical moment on your next vacation if you’re SUPER lucky!
One of our favorite things about walking down Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom is the irresistible aroma coming from Main Street Confectionery! This candy shop is home to all kinds of sweet treats, from baked goods to frozen beverages. And we recently found out about a fun Main Street Confectionery experience that’s a sweet lover’s dream come true!
Located right near the entrance to Magic Kingdom, Main Street Confectionery is a classic, old-fashioned candy shop that’s your one-stop shop for all things sweet. One unique feature in the confectionery is the Kernel Kitchen, where guests can create their own customized popcorn mix.
Guests pick their popcorn flavor, syrup flavor, and whichever toppings they’d like to include on their custom creation, with the price varying by the number of toppings picked.
And, as if custom popcorn wasn’t exciting enough, on a recent trip to the confectionery, we saw Cast Members choose a lucky guest to be the “Chef of the Day” at the Kernel Kitchen!
A Cast Member told us that at least one guest a day is picked at random to be the “Chef of the Day.” They’re invited to create a mix of their choice on a rolling counter that is brought out in front of the popcorns on display. And, as the chef, the Cast Member said they can choose as many flavors of popcorn as many toppings and drizzles as they want.
After creating the custom mix, the “Chef of the Day” also gets a certificate commemorating their moment in the spotlight!
We love coming across these magical moments that Cast Members create for guests that make such special, unique memories! If you’re in the mood for something sweet on your next trip to Magic Kingdom, swing by the Kernel Kitchen at Main Street Confectionery, and you might just be lucky enough to get picked to be Chef of the Day. And, if nothing else, you can at least leave with a delicious treat!
