Listen, I love Disney World rides with my whole heart. I don’t care where I sit as long as I get to fully experience the ride, but there are also some seats that just aren’t as good as others. We’re not talking about the front versus the back on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or on Cosmic Rewind, but on Smugglers Run.

New missions will be added to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu.

If you didn’t know, Smugglers Run is getting an update on May 22nd at both Disney World and Disneyland, and with that comes a change to the engineer seat.

There are three seats on Smugglers Run you can get: the pilot, gunner, or engineer, and if we’re being honest, the pilot is the best seat, where you’re literally flying the Millennium Falcon. That’s a dream come true for most of us!

Not saying the gunners and engineers aren’t important, but they don’t have all the buttons, control, and powers as the pilot. The gunners help protect your ship, and the engineer helps repair damage, but now the engineer will be able to pick the crew’s destination.

New storylines are being added or updated, but the biggest one is one for The Mandalorian and Grogu movie, where you’ll be able to interact with Mando and Grogu. Eek! The engineer will also be able to communicate with Grogu during the mission.

In the new storyline, Hondo Ohnaka “has gotten wind of a deal going down on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and a band of pirates. There’s a generous bounty for their capture, so you’ll borrow the iconic ship and team up with Mando and Grogu to track them down and explore the galaxy.”

This isn’t the first time Disney has listened to guest ideas and implemented them into the ride. We recently saw Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT switch from 3D to 2D, along with different audio and scent upgrades. Smugglers Run is also updating its visuals, which we’re looking forward to seeing.
