We know we don’t talk about it a lot, but a lot of people come to Disney World not just for the theme parks and great food (which is basically our reasons for visiting), but for something else: golf.
Disney World’s three championship golf courses and nine-hole walking layout bring tons of people to the resort so they can get their golf in Disney fashion for an experience that might be just a bit more magical than other golf courses around the world. Well, Disney was recently recognized for its golf courses because the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) has chosen Disney World Golf as its 2026 Resort Golf Course of the Year.
Disney recently revealed that its resort golf courses, which are operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management, were named by the NGCOA as its 2026 Resort Golf Course of the year. The NGCOA is a non-profit organization that’s “the leading authority on the business of golf course ownership and management.” It represents thousands of courses across the U.S.
Walt Disney World Golf will be officially recognized by the organization at the NGCOA Golf Business Conference, which will take place January 19th through 21st in Orlando, Florida.
“Walt Disney World Golf represents the pinnacle of resort-level golf experiences, establishing a benchmark for service, design, and industry leadership,” says Cathy Harbin, President of the NGCOA Board of Directors. “The APGM team members at Walt Disney World Resort are passionate about our industry, providing first-class experiences and inspiring others. It is a privilege to recognize their dedication to golf and shine a spotlight on their achievements.”
Disney recently launched a major project to overseed all four of its courses for the first time in 10 years. The company also recently introduced a new premium golf cart fleet that is now available on all three 18-hole courses. The new carts have a fob-based system, high-resolution LED multifunction displays, upgraded alloy wheels, USB ports for charging mobile devices, and more.
Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course also recently underwent a huge renovation and now has “new teeing grounds, redesigned greenside and fairway bunkers, and newly re-contoured Bermuda grass greens.” There’s also a Mickey Mouse-themed bunker on hole 6, and all 18 holes have a Disney-themed name based on classic Disney movies.
