Le Cellier is one of the more expensive and fancy restaurants in EPCOT, especially in World Showcase. It’s very popular, so much so that it’s often hard to get a reservation, so when you sit down to dine, you’re likely expecting a pretty fantastic meal.
As this is a steakhouse, many people choose to try one of the $60 steak cuts on the menu, but there are plenty of other options available as well. We recently spotted two new items on the menu and knew we had to give them a try to tell you our thoughts, but we’ll be honest — we’re not totally sold on either of them.
You can now grab the Braised Lamb Shank for $51, which is served with Black Barley Risotto, Braised Fennel, Maple-glazed Carrots, Garden Greens, and Jus. While this was far from our reporter’s first time having lamb, and she really enjoys the flavor profile of it, the texture was not what we were expecting.
While the other braised lamb dishes we’ve often found around Disney World resort are fall-off-the-bone tender, these were far from it. In fact, we basically had to pull it apart, like you would a turkey leg, so to us it almost seemed it was overcooked. Despite that, the flavor was great once we got past having to pull it off the bone. We enjoyed how savory it was, not only thanks to the lamb itself, but also the slow-cooked herbs and jus.
The black barley risotto it sits on doesn’t ring out as anything too special to us, and it looked like the black eyed peas were trying to be more of a polenta, and it pops in your mouth when you chew it, and the fennel itself was solid as well. We loved the balance of flavors and the luxurious flavor of it all, but we just think we got a really bad cut of the meat. We’d be interested in trying it again to see if it was a one-off or if that’s just how this braised lamb is cooked here.
We also tried the new Oysters Rockefeller for $22, and while these have the classic texture and that fresh, briny flavor of oysters, we do feel these were bland when it came to flavor. We got a bit of the herby notes, and the spinach was more of a cooked collard greens texture, and there was a bit of crunch from the breadcrumbs, but the flavor was lacking for us.
We would have loved to taste a little more salt, garlic, or perhaps even butter, just to give the whole dish a little something extra to make it as luxurious tasting as it looked.
Now we do have to quickly shout out the Bread Service here, because this is something everyone gets with their meal, no matter what they’re ordering. We love how unique the bread service is here, but not because of the bread itself — because of the story behind it! Our server told us why each piece of bread was served to us, where it’s commonly served in Canada, and why it may look the way it does. It was fascinating!
We loved how the bread service tasted as well, too. The butter served with the service has some rock salt and maple sugar on top, which really elevated it. Both breads were beautifully soft and pliable on the inside, and it overall really helped set the tone of the rest of our meal here.
Overall, we can see why this spot is on a lot of people’s bucket lists, because it is a swanky restaurant with some great options. However, if you’re someone who doesn’t prefer dining in darker atmospheres, it’s important to note that this dining experience is pretty dark! You may find yourself needing to use your phone flashlight, especially if you have a harder time seeing in the dark.

A good Oysters Rockefeller has Pernod liqueur on it. That’s what gives it the true flavor.
