Shanghai Holiday Kitchen is back at the Festival of the Holidays this year!
The 2025 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays has officially begun, and there is a lot to offer. There are plenty of food booths with tasty items, merchandise items to grab (of course), and even concerts to watch. But don’t let it overwhelm you. We’ve got you covered with everything you need to know. And now we’re heading to one spot in particular — the Shanghai Holiday Kitchen — to give you the FULL scoop! Is it worth a try? Let’s find out!
Menu
The new BBQ Char Siu Pork Fried Rice is joined by the returning Beef Noodle Soup Bowl and Vegetable Spring Rolls on the Shanghai Holiday Kitchen menu.
In keeping with previous years, SEVERAL drinks are up for grabs here, including the new Tiger Bubble Milk Tea. It’s joined by Brew Hub Year of the Dragon: Dragon Fruit Lager and a few cocktails: the Butterfly Lantern, the Lychee Martini, and the Peach of Longevity, all returning from last year!
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
We are definitely intrigued by the new BBQ Char Siu Pork Fried Rice, made with Chinese La Chang sausage, egg, yellow onion, green onion, and sesame for $9.50.
Fried rice isn’t new to this booth, but this year’s iteration is, and we’re excited to try the new flavors! Overall, it wasn’t awful, but it also wasn’t a stand-out for us. The fried rice tasted a bit overcooked, but the flavors were yummy. The pork was also a bit tough but also had good flavor. You only get two thin slices of meat, but the portion of fried rice is pretty decent. We would definitely be willing to give this dish another try, though, as we think it could be absolutely delicious with the right cook on the fried rice and pork.
The returning Beef Noodle Soup Bowl is made with slow-braised beef shank, green onion, and house-made chili oil. This dish costs $9.75.
This dish usually comes in a massive portion. The pieces of beef were HUGE, and there were plenty of noodles. However, in the past, the dish lacked flavor, and we thought it was bland for an Asian noodle soup. It impressed us more than most noodle dishes we have had at EPCOT, but it won’t stand up to an authentic Asian noodle soup.
The Vegetable Spring Rolls with citrus sauce are also back this year!
These come in at $6.25. We enjoyed these spring rolls, but we think they are a bit expensive for what you get. We were impressed with the flavors and textures. They were super crispy, even after likely sitting out for a while, and there was LOTS of filling inside. It was super flavorful with lots of fresh vegetable flavor. Surprisingly, this was our favorite dish at the booth!
Drinks
In terms of drinks on this menu, this booth is not short of options! We got the new Tiger Milk Tea with Assam black tea, whole milk, brown sugar syrup, and tapioca boba for $8.75.
The most prominent flavor in this drink is the black tea. We didn’t get much of the brown sugar flavor, but we still enjoyed the drink. The tapioca pearls have a gummy texture, but they don’t add any additional flavor. We think it is a bit expensive for what you get, but if you are looking for some boba tea, you will enjoy this one!
Next up is the returning Butterfly Lantern made with Butterfly pea blossom gin, vodka, prickly pear syrup, lychee syrup, and white boba for $14.75. This cocktail is…just okay. The pear is pronounced with just a touch of the lychee, but it’s not a great combination and comes off as a bit medicinal. The gin doesn’t carry a strong presence, either. But it sure is pretty!
Also available here is the Peach of Longevity for $14.75. Aside from having a cool name, this drink also features Peach Schnapps, citrus vodka, piña colada mix, and orange juice. Beer drinkers can give Brew Hub Year of the Dragon: Dragon Fruit Lager a try for $5.75 for a 6-ounce pour or $10.00 for a 12-ounce pour.
You can also find the Lychee Martini made with Vodka, lychee syrup, and vermouth for $14.50.
OVERALL
Shanghai Kitchen has some good options, but overall, the items are didn’t wow us. We really enjoyed the Vegetable Spring Rolls, but they are just your classic spring rolls you can get from your local Chinese restaurant. The BBQ Char Siu Pork Fried Rice was a bit disappointing as our rice was overcooked and the pork was tough. The Tiger Milk Tea was also just okay. It wasn’t anything unique, but it is a great option if you are looking for boba tea!
That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
