We have quickly become big fans of the new Wailulu Bar & Grill at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort — Island Tower. Not only did the gorgeous views, airy atmosphere, and beautiful artwork sell us, but the food here is great.
We tried this restaurant right when it opened, and we keep coming back to it. Soon, you’ll be able to make reservations here, but for now, we simply stopped by again because we had to try another dish that we think will be super popular (at least, it should be)! This entree and drink combo will have you scraping the bottom of your bowl and ordering another round. So let’s dive in, shall we?!
When we stopped by Wailulu Bar & Grill recently, we decided to try the Grilled Tofu Poke Bowl and Hibiscus Tea. This bowl includes sushi-style rice, pickled cucumbers, vegetables, spicy poke sauce, macadamia nuts, and grilled tofu. It is available for $22 during lunch and dinner. The Hibiscus Tea is a non-alcoholic beverage that costs $5.79.
Let’s start off with the poke bowl. This was one of the best poke bowls we’ve ever had. The flavors were packed with island freshness — crisp radishes, creamy avocado, bright edamame, and other perfectly fresh veggies over rice that was cooked just right. The grilled tofu was smoky, flavorful, and filling enough to make it a full meal. The sauce tied it all together — tangy, sweet, and surprising with every bite. It made the whole bowl feel exciting and kept us scraping the bowl until the last bite.
To go with the island-fresh poke bowl, we ordered the Hibiscus Iced Tea. It’s a non-alcoholic drink that looks as good as it tastes. The deep red color comes with an orchid garnish on top, and it’s beautiful when it arrives at the table. The flavor starts with a real tea base, then gets lifted with the faintest hint of lime and a light sweetness from agave. It’s fruity but not fake, syrupy without being too sweet, refreshing without being overwhelming, and it lands perfectly right between a juice and a tea.
Together, the poke bowl and the iced tea made for a meal that feels exactly right for Disney’s Polynesian — fresh, vibrant, and full of island flavor. If you’re looking for a great meal option, whether you’re vegan or not, the Grilled Tofu Poke Bowl with the Hibiscus Tea is a great choice! Since it’s opening in December 2024, Wailulu Bar & Grill has been walk-up only, but starting December 3rd, the restaurant switches to Disney’s Advance Dining
