New treats in Disneyland Resort? Count us in — we’re ready to try them all!
As we’re the Disney FOOD Blog, we make it our job to try all the latest snacks, drinks, desserts, and more that hit the Disney parks, so you can know if they’re worth spending your hard-earned money on while you’re on your next vacation. There are TWO new treats that just landed at the resort, and we’ve gotta tell you, they’re both one step away from becoming our go-tos.
Starting off over at Disney California Adventure, you can grab the new Dulce De Leche Pull Apart Bread for $9.25 at a treat stand in the Paradise Garden Grill area. This is made with pecans, so watch out if you or someone in your party is allergic. We highly recommend talking to the Cast Members there if you have any questions or concerns.
This is certainly a filling, sweet treat that should definitely be shared! Between the dulce de leche and pecans, this was really rich and very sweet. The main flavor we got was a sweet caramel flavor with a nutty aftertaste. It was warm from the case they kept it in, but we’ll admit that the bread didn’t seem as fresh and we would of liked it.
It wasn’t a huge deal, as most of the flavor comes from the toppings anyway, but we would have loved for the bread to be fresh. We’re also warning you now — this is extremely sticky and messy, so grab those napkins and be ready to head to wash your hands right after.
Our next treat was over in Disneyland Park. You’ll find the S’mores Cheesecake for $7.79 over at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, and while this wasn’t bad, it tasted more like just a chocolate cheesecake than s’mores, but we didn’t mind.
We didn’t taste much graham cracker or marshmallow here. It was served chilled and had a thick texture, which helped make the chocolate rich and decadent. However, that strength of flavor took away from the graham crackers sprinkled all over, so we could really only taste graham crackers when we got to the crust on the bottom.
The mousse on top was light and whipped with a light marshmallow flavor, but our only complaint is that we wish there was more of it to balance out the rich chocolate flavor. Any fan of s’mores and chocolate would probably love this, but we would love to see a little more balance between the flavors. Also, if you’re a s’mores mega fan, you might want to bring your own marshmallows.
