Halloween is THIS Friday, and while we cannot believe that the month flew by so quickly, it also means we’re closer to one of our FAVORITE parts of the Halloween season in Disney World.
Yes, we love Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but we ALSO are big fans of a particular offering over at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort — the Halloween Golf Cart Parade. This event is so popular, in fact, that only a very SELECT group of people can attend — are you one of those lucky few?
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort hosts an incredible Halloween parade each year, but this isn’t hosted by Disney or even Cast Members. No, it’s Fort Wilderness Resort hotel guests that put it together!
And this parade isn’t just any parade — the “floats” are golf carts from participants and the resort, and they’re decorated INCREDIBLY. While they’re all Disney themed, we’ve seen TRON, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, and so many more. Each year, they totally blow our minds.
Here’s the thing, though — this event is SO popular that not everyone can attend. In fact, you have to stay at Fort Wilderness Resort during the event to see the parade, as well as participate. However, it doesn’t matter if you’re staying at a cabin or a campsite; all guests of the hotel are welcome to this event. Even if you’ve grabbed a dining reservation here, that won’t be enough to let you see the parade.
Now, if you are staying at Fort Wilderness and plan to watch the parade, here’s what you need to know! The parade takes place on October 30th at around 4 PM. As for the parade route, it starts at the hitching area right by the front entrance and follows the longer (straighter) stretch of road through the Meadow section, which is where they’ll pass by the judges’ tent. The judges narrow down all the incredible entries to just six finalists, who are judged by other guests at the campground to crown one winner.
This truly is SUCH a fun event, and if you’re staying at Fort Wilderness, it’s absolutely a must-do. Now, if you’re not staying at the resort, no worries — you can see plenty of fantastic Halloween decorations if you visit Fort Wilderness on Halloween and take a stroll around the resort, as many people decorate their campsites. Or, you can head into Magic Kingdom to check out all the Halloween decor that’s up currently, now through October 31st.
