You might think November is one of the easiest months to visit Disney World—but it’s actually full of traps for the unprepared.

Walt Disney World entrance
Between new construction projects, seasonal ride closures, and early park shutdowns for party nights, there are a few big mistakes that can completely change your trip if you don’t plan ahead. We’re breaking down what to watch for so you can avoid being that guest standing outside a “Closed for Refurbishment” sign or wondering why Magic Kingdom is closing at 6PM. Let’s get into it!
Ignoring All the Construction
We’ve entered a full-on construction era at Disney World, and if you’re visiting this November, you’re going to feel it.
Magic Kingdom is surrounded by construction walls as work continues on Piston Peak, the new expansion taking shape beyond Frontierland. This project is already spilling into the surrounding areas, which means you’ll be dealing with blocked walkways, rerouted traffic, and some seriously congested pathways near the Rivers of America. Expect tight spaces and some detours, especially near Liberty Square.
Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the transition from DinoLand U.S.A. to the upcoming Tropical Americas land is in full swing. Trilo-Bites and Dino-Bite Snacks have already closed permanently as of October 20th, and this is just the start. By early 2026, both Restaurantosaurus and the DINOSAUR ride will close, which means the entire back corner of the park will be a no-go zone. So if you were planning to grab a snack or escape crowds in that area, you’ll need a new strategy this November.
And don’t forget Disney’s Hollywood Studios—the Muppets Courtyard area is currently fenced off as construction begins on Monster’s Inc. Land. That means limited access between Grand Avenue and the rest of the park. Translation: expect tight walkways and longer detours getting to your favorite snacks at spots like Baseline Tap House.
If you’re visiting this fall, plan your routes carefully and check park maps often. Construction walls aren’t just eyesores—they can change how you move through entire sections of a park.
Overlooking Ride Closures
It’s easy to assume that all your favorite attractions will be open when you visit in November, but that’s just not the case this year. Several major rides are closed for refurbishment, and if you don’t know about them ahead of time, it’s going to be a real disappointment.
Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom will remain closed through December 2025 for its annual refurbishment. Normally this happens later in the year, but Disney moved it up to early October, so don’t count on cooling off with a splash this November.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is another big loss. The wildest ride in the wilderness shut down back in January 2025 and won’t reopen until 2026. This long-term refurbishment is tied to future construction that will connect the ride with the new Villains Land expansion, so the entire back area of Frontierland is going to look—and feel—different for quite a while.
Over in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is also closed for a huge overhaul. When it reopens in 2026, it’ll feature new ride vehicles, upgraded targets, and an all-new character named Buddy who helps guests get ready for their Star Command mission. The new handheld blasters and interactive targets sound exciting, but for now, the ride is completely shut down.
If you’ve got kids who love Toy Story or if Big Thunder is one of your family’s traditions, it’s worth managing expectations before you arrive. Double-check the refurbishment schedule on Disney’s website and make a list of backup rides to hit instead.
Forgetting About Party Nights
If you don’t have a ticket to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, you’ll want to pay close attention to Magic Kingdom’s calendar in November. The park closes early on party nights—often around 6PM—which can really throw off your day if you were planning to stay for fireworks.
- Here are the 2025 party dates: November 7th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 25th, 26th, 28th, and 30th. (That’s a lot of early closures.)
Guests without party tickets will be asked to leave in the late afternoon, and the park starts clearing out right as the Christmas magic kicks in. If you want a full Magic Kingdom day without interruptions, your best bet is to go on a non-party date—or buy a party ticket so you can enjoy the event yourself.
If you’re visiting with a Park Hopper ticket, this could actually work in your favor. You can start your day at Magic Kingdom, then hop to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios once the party crowds roll in.
Plan Ahead Now
November can be a beautiful time to visit Disney World—cooler weather, lighter crowds in the first half of the month, and the start of the holiday season. But between construction walls, closed rides, and party nights, you’ll need to plan with extra care this year. Check your park days against party schedules, review Disney’s official refurbishment list before your trip, and expect to navigate around some heavy construction zones. Do that, and you’ll still have a smooth, festive, and stress-free vacation.
In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
