Few things are as frustrating as hitting traffic when you’re driving to your vacation destination — especially when that destination is Disney World!
If you’re heading to the Most Magical Place on Earth this weekend, we’ve got a warning for you! The 2025 runDisney Wine and Dine Half Marathon is taking place this weekend, and that means there will be some traffic changes and road closures you need to know about. Let’s get into it.
The runDisney 2025 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon, part of the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, will take place from October 23rd through October 26th, 2025. The Wine and Dine Half Marathon, as well as the Disney’s Wine and Dine 5K, Disney Wine and Dine 10K, and the Disney Two Course Challenge, make up the weekend’s race offerings!
These runDisney races bring thousands of participants to Disney World, with racers running through all four theme parks and several roads in the surrounding areas. You can check out the full schedule of race events below:
- October 23rd — runDisney Expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports
- October 24th — Wine and Dine 5k
- October 25th — Wine and Dine 10k
- October 26th — Wine and Dine Half-marathon
While the races start early in the morning (with most being finished before the parks even open), you might still experience road closures and traffic changes while these races are going on throughout the weekend.
Disney wants to ensure that roads are blocked and safe for runners to complete the course. This will likely occur mainly on October 26th, during the half-marathon. Expect to see Cast Members and signage directing you to alternate routes.
If you’re staying on Disney World property, using Disney transportation will probably be much easier than using your own vehicle this weekend. Not only that, but as these races draw so many people who normally wouldn’t be at the parks — you can expect some heavier crowds than you might normally anticipate.
Consider purchasing Lightning Lanes or visiting at night when all the runners are too exhausted to still be at the parks!
We’ll be on the lookout for more updates you need to know about when it comes to the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend and more news from Disney World! In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest updates.
