Ugh! Isn’t it the worst to buy something at Disney World just to find out you could have saved so much money if you bought it beforehand?
In fact, after years of experience, we’ve rounded up the four most common items we regret impulse-buying in Disney World. Good news — there’s a BETTER WAY!
OK, we have to admit that for YEARS, we wasted money on flimsy, disposable ponchos for a Disney vacation. It might seem like a good idea in the moment, but after you try our recommendation, you’ll never want to go back to those cheap ponchos.
We love the FROGG TOGGS Ultra-lite2 Breathable Rain Poncho
This is the superior poncho. It’s 100% waterproof (thank goodness!!), lightweight, and durable. We love that we can use this many times — rather than having to toss it after one use. Plus, it’s comfortable, packable, and high-quality.
Something else we’ve purchased in a moment of weakness? Bottled water. Disney World charges TOO MUCH for a simple bottle of water. Don’t fall for it!
We bring a reusable Owala FreeSip to the parks!
This is our go-to for a park day! It’s a 24-ounce insulated stainless-steel water bottle, and what makes this one special is the FreeSip spout. Unlike a lot of other water bottles we’ve tested, this one is spill-free. Isn’t this Tangled one super cute, too?
Ever started packing, only to realize you don’t have a good pair of shoes for Disney World? Don’t impulse-buy a cheap pair of sneakers! Instead, we would invest in a pair of shoes that will last for years AND won’t hurt your feet in the parks.
Our team LOVES the HOKA Clifton 10 Running Shoes
These shoes are the BEST. Even after hours on your feet, your back, legs, and feet won’t hurt. It’s magic! There’s a reason Hoka sneakers are so popular. Give them a try (and make sure to break them in before your trip).
A Mickey Mouse Bubble Wand
We get it. Bubble wands are pretty tempting — especially if you’re a kid. But they are EXPENSIVE! Instead, we would buy one on Amazon before your trip (for a lot less money) so you don’t have to worry about falling into the bubble wand trap in the parks. Future you will thank you!
A Disney Autograph Book
We don’t know why a blank book and a pen are so expensive in the parks, but they just are. This one is still officially sold at the Disney Store, but it’s cheaper on Amazon! It’s Mickey Mouse and Friends themed with a pen and has 50 pages, which is plenty of room for all the characters you’re going to meet.
You can get Disney Sweatshirts online, too
Florida is hot, but don’t be surprised if there are random times when you feel the need to reach for a jacket. Whether it’s an oddly cold day in October, a restaurant with the air conditioning cranked up, or a relaxing evening by the pool, packing a themed sweatshirt for everyone in the family can help prevent trips to the gift shop to buy one for each member.
In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney deals, so stay tuned for more.

Our handy (and portable!) ebook guides make sure you get the best deals and can plan a vacation of a lifetime.
