Dining in Disneyland can be overwhelming because you’ve got a TON of options. Whether you want something fast and easy at a quick service restaurant, a sit-down meal at a table service, or an upscale meal that you’ll never forget, there’s something in the resort for everyone.
We recently stopped by Docking Bay 7 in Disneyland Resort to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to The Happiest Place on Earth? Find out here!
Atmosphere
Docking Bay 7 is located inside Galaxy’s Edge, which is where you can step into the Star Wars galaxy in a heartbeat. On Batuu, Black Spire Outpost serves up quick service meals with a Delivery Shuttle docked right on top, hence the name Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo.
Here, Proprietor Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs runs the kitchen, having honed his skills in the kitchen of Maz Kanata. On the menu here, you’ll find some familiar dining options with twists from another galaxy. Picky eaters may be a little wary of how everything looks, but we can assure you there are some great options here!
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
Docking Bay 7 is only open for lunch and dinner, so you won’t find any breakfast options here. On the menu for both times of day, you’ll find entrees like Endorian Roasted Chicken Salad, Surabat Noodles with Crispy Marinated Eopie, Fried Chicken Baos, and Endorian Fried Chicken Tip-Yip. For plant-based eaters, you can grab the Felucian Kefta Garden Spread. There’s only one dessert available, which is the Vintian Mineral Mousse.
As for kids meals, you’ll find the Ithorian Garden Patty Bun and the Fried Chicken Tip-Yip Youngling Meal. You can choose to grab a specialty drink like the Moof Juice, Phattro, or Cold Brew Black Caf, but assorted fountain beverages are also available, along with apple juice, chocolate milk, regular milk, and Dasani Water.
And now, onto the main event — the food!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the Surabat Noodles with Crispy Marinated Eopie for $18.99, which is Lo Mein Noodles, Bok Choy, Ground Pork, Togarashi Pork Rinds.
This is a great portioned dish! The noodles are perfectly al dente and there’s a lot of ground pork to go around. The sauce has a citrus/soy sauce/ginger taste to it and is on the salty side, but we mean that in the best way. We thoroughly enjoyed the dish and would absolutely get it again, but we would say it’s a bit on the adventurous side for eaters — we’ve got a feeling pickier eaters may not do as well with the sauce, but if you know you enjoy that flavor profile, it’s a solid option!
We also tried the Fried Chicken Baos for $14.99, which are Two Crispy Chicken Baos, Sweet Chili Sauce, Scallion Salad, Cucumber Coins. The bao is fluffy and the chicken is well cooked, but we need to warn you that the sweet chili sauce on top does have a bit of a kick! If you have a spice sensitivity, just be cautious or ask for the sauce on the side. It’s “Disney spicy,” maybe 4/10 on the spice level, but for those sensitive, they may feel it’s too much. The veggies offer a good crunch in combination with the other textures, and all the flavors work well together. While our reporter wasn’t the biggest fan of them just because there are other things they like better, if you’re looking for some spice, this is the way to go.
Since it’s the only dessert on the menu, we had to try the Vintian Mineral Mousse for $8.79, which is Banana Brûlée-covered Dark Chocolate Mousse, Strawberry Mousse, Vanilla Chantilly, Chocolate Crumble, and Cherry Garnish.
This is dessert is loaded up with flavors! The chocolate mousse was the most rich tasting item on this plate, but all of them were balanced. No flavors heavily outweighed the others, which is pretty tricky when it comes to desserts like this.
And just LOOK at that presentation! We would absolutely get this one again, and we don’t think you’ll regret it if you know you enjoy chocolate and fruit flavors together.
Drinks
Finally, to drink we grabbed the iconic Cold Brew Black Caf for $7.79, which is Cold Brew Coffee topped with Sweet Cream Cheese and Chocolate Puffs.
This is popular for good reason! If you like coffee and need a cold coffee any time of day, this is the best one on property. The cream cheese cold foam and cocoa puffs may sound like a super strange combo, but we’re telling you, this drink is delicious and it won’t lead you astray!
Nosh or Not
This Disneyland restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You want to be immersed in Batuu and the world of Star Wars
- You’re a bit of a more adventurous eater
- You don’t mind smaller menus
You should skip this Disneyland spot if…
- You want a menu that has LOTS of options for everyone
- You’re a pickier eater and aren’t as open to food that looks a little different than what you may expect
- You’re not a big Star Wars fan and may just find the food weird
Overall
While we’re rarely disappointed by this spot, we know it’s also not the best one out there. So while it works in a pinch, it’s not one that we’d say is a must-visit unless you’re a really big fan of Star Wars, or are alright with the smaller amount of menu offerings.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disneyland and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
