It’s time to play the music; it’s time to light the lights — er, well, okay, it’s not entirely time yet, but we’re just too excited about the Muppets retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
While no official closing date has been announced yet, Disney has confirmed that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open in summer 2026. Not only that, but they’ve confirmed that there will be a brand-new Scooter animatronic — and they’ve teased that there could potentially be more.
We can’t wait to check out the new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets when it opens in summer 2026. Disney has shared that not only will The Electric Mayhem be featured as the musicians on this ride, but Scooter will also be featured in the recording studio as an audio-animatronic figure!
But, what we’re really excited about is the fact that Disney teased that Scooter “might not be” the only new Muppet animatronic to join this ride. Of course, in typical Disney fashion, we don’t have any real details or clues as to just who might pop up in animatronic form.
In the latest concept art Disney revealed, which is modeled after a concert or festival poster, “The Great Gonzo” is listed as a special guest — which was something we hadn’t previously seen before.
We’re not sure in what capacity Gonzo will be part of the ride just yet. He could be featured as part of the pre-show, or he could even be featured in the ride itself — possibly as an animatronic?! We’ll have to wait and see.
What we do know is that G-Force Records is now being taken over by The Muppets. Scooter’s uncle is a real estate tycoon and the owner of the Muppet Theatre, but now he’s getting into recording. If G-Force Records sounds familiar, it’s from the Aerosmith version of the ride, but now that Scooter’s uncle owns it, we’re expecting the Muppet theming to fully take over.
Ultimately, though, with such a quick turnaround time between closing and reopening (assuming the ride reopens on time), we’re left wondering how big a retheme this will really be. For now, we’re still hopeful, but it’s unlikely that Disney is doing any major construction updates or changes to the actual ride itself.
We’ll be on the lookout for more updates about this exciting new retheme at Hollywood Studios. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to
