Pop Century Resort is a great hotel for those looking to stay on property and save some money, because it’s one of the lowest-priced hotels you’ll find at Disney World.
While this hotel is home to some fantastic larger-than-life theming that may remind you deeply of your childhood and give you all the nostalgia, we will be the first to admit that the food here is subpar. With only one dining location, there are lots of different menu items, but you’ll rarely find them to exceed your expectations. We grabbed the cheapest dinner there recently, and we’ve gotta admit — it’ll be the last time we do so.
Pop Century’s one dining location, Everything POP Shopping and Dining, is home to a pretty large menu. While you’ll find classics here like pizza, cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, and hot dogs, you will also find some more intriguing options like Citrus-Basil Salmon, Chicken Adobo Nachos, and a Honey Barbecued Pork Sandwich.
If you’re looking for some of the cheapest options here, you’ll be looking at any of the kids’ meals, which range from $7.49 for the Macaroni and Cheese to $8.99 for the Chicken Strips. As for the adult meals, you can check out the soup of the day for $4.49, the Chicken Strips for $10.99, or the Slice of Cheese Pizza for $11.29.
We’ve rarely had something awful here, and there are a few standouts (like that iconic Tie Dye Cheesecake), but overall, it’s not a spot we recommend. There are so many better options around the Disney World hotels, and while it’s often hard to get from one hotel to another, that’s not the case at Pop Century!
Thanks to having access to the Skyliner, you can quickly travel to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, as well as Disney’s Riviera Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. These parks and hotels are known for having more impressive dining options, and taking the Skyliner is usually much more pleasant (and often more quick) than taking a Disney bus.
One of the restaurants we really want to highlight is Primo Piatto at Disney’s Riviera Resort. This is a quick service restaurant that specializes in sandwiches, salads, beer, wine, and so much more, and it’s all under about $15!
Now, we want to preface, this is also not going to be food that knocks your socks off, BUT for around the same price as a lot of the offerings at Pop Century, it’s certainly an improvement. The Sausage and Pepperoni Pizza is one of the best quick service pizzas we’ve had on property. It’s elevated, has a slight spice to it, and there’s a generous portion of parmesan, pepperoni, and sausage.
We’ve also enjoyed the Lasagna in the past (though the last time we had it, it came out a little cold, but we’re hoping that was a one-off), as it has a great herbaceous flavor, and a great pasta-to-meat ratio.
For coffee lovers, you’ll love the Tiramisu here! It’s light, fluffy, and the coffee flavor gets stronger the closer you get to the bottom. So be sure to dig that spoon WAY down to get all the flavor!
At the end of the day, we think there are numerous better options just a quick 15-20 minute ride away from Pop Century (or Art of Animation for that matter, since they share the same Skyliner station), so if you’re looking for some variety beyond your value hotel’s food court, this is the way to go.
