OK, we’re gonna come right out and say it. Disney World is a bit of a chaotic mess right now. In Magic Kingdom, two rides are closed for updates, an entire section of the park is closed to make way for a Cars expansion, and a Villains Land is being built behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, two sections of that park are also closed to make way for a Monsters, Inc. land and a re-imagining of Animation Courtyard. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is doing a phased closure of Dinoland, U.S.A., to make way for Pueblo Esperanza. Whew.
Well, we’ve got even more closure news to share with you. In Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, Mickey’s PhilharMagic is set to close on November 1st, while Vacation Fun in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will temporarily close on October 20th. WHAT IS GOING ON, DISNEY?
Mickey’s PhilharMagic will close on November 1st for a routine refurbishment. The good news is that Disney does not expect the closure to last long and hopes the attraction will reopen later that month. We checked the hours on the Disney World website, and it looks like it’s scheduled to reopen on November 23rd, with hours posted for that day. We’re hoping this temporary refurb gives us updated theater seats or maybe some updated effects!
Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie is scheduled to close on October 20th. Disney plans to reopen that attraction before the end of the year. As of December 10th, though, no hours are scheduled for Vacation Fun.
Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios already have quite a few attractions closed during this time, so you’ll have to plan accordingly. Both are also nice ways to get out of the heat, so if that’s your priority, there’s always Carousel of Progress and Hall of Presidents in Magic Kingdom, as well as For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration in Hollywood Studios. You can also pop into Walt Disney Presents to escape the heat. Luckily, you’ve still got some options!

I think the powers that be at Disney have a lot of nerve charging full admission when so many attractions are closed.
I’m not going to say ‘I’m not going until (blank) is open’ in reality I’ll end up in WDW at some point next year.
