Have you ever needed to talk to a Cast Member, only to be met with a long wait time? While we definitely find ourselves jamming out to the Disney music for at least a little bit and having our own personal concert while on hold, it can get boring and frustrating waiting on hold for a long time.Β
Wouldnβt it be awesome if your phone could wait on hold for you, and you could just be notified when it was your turn? Well, we have some great news! A NEW feature was just added to iOS 26 that includes a feature called βHold Assist.βΒ Now your phone can do the waiting, and you can spend time doing other things β like researching which dining reservations you want to make!
What exactly is Hold Assist, and how do you use it? Essentially, your phone will monitor the call and mute all the audio associated with the call. Once you are directed to a person, your phone will notify you, and you will pick up the call again. You will still need to keep your phone close by, so you can get the notification, but you wonβt have to listen to the same loop of audio and recordings while you wait for a representative.
To use the feature: when you are on hold, click on the βMoreβ button at the bottom of the screen, and then select βHold Assist.β You will also be prompted with a pop-up notification without clicking on more after you have been on hold for a bit. You will receive an on-screen notification that your phone is holding the call. You will be able to see what is being said in the call (like βall Cast Members are currently assisting other guestsβ), and then you will be notified when your call is answered by a Cast Member.
We have a feeling this will make waiting a long time SO much easier! We truly appreciate all that the Cast Members do, and we are more than willing to wait to speak with one. But we think this new feature will be a game-changer!

I just recently used this new feature, Hold Assist. It was great! However, However if you are not surfing the web, etc. you kinda start to wonder if they are still on the other end. All in all, it was so peaceful not having all the elevator music noise.
IOS 26? I am just downloading the latest and it is IOS 18.7. Am I missing something here? I would love this feature, but donβt think that update has come down the pike yet. Here is info pasted directly from internetβ¦
The latest version of iOS is currently iOS 18.6.2, which was released in August 2025.
