In case you missed it, something NEW just appeared at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival. Surprise? We LOVE surprises — count us IN!
Yes, the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival has been going on for about a month now, but a NEW food booth opened on September 21st. It’s called Festival Favorites and it’s bringing back some of OUR personal festival faves, as well as a new (to this location, anyway) snack. So, does this booth still deliver? Let’s find out.
Menu
The Festival Favorites booth is just what its name suggests: it’s a food booth that has brought back some of the most popular EPCOT festival snacks. You’ll find the booth in CommuniCore Hall. Returning this year is the Kielbasa and Potato Pierogis, as well as the Irish Milk Shake. But a new snack has appeared here this year, too: the Curry-spiced Fried Cheese with mango-curry ketchup (formerly located at the India booth).
Eats
As we mentioned, the Kielbasa and Potato Pierogis with caramelized onions and sour cream for $6 are a returning favorite, and we’ve been big fans of this one enough to have tried to make it at home. The inside of the pierogi is nice and fluffy, and the flavors all meld well together. The carmalized onions are sweet and stunning, while the kielbasa adds a nice saltier flavor. We will admit that the texture could be off-putting for some, but overall, it’s a good pierogi.
We also had to try the new item at this location, coming from the India booth! The Curry-spiced Fried Cheese with mango-curry ketchup is $5.25. It’s fried cheese, so we’re obviously in LOVE with it. It’s like mozzarella sticks, but with an Indian flair. You get four thick sticks with a nice crispy exterior, plus a lovely ketchup sauce that’s a little sweet and a little spicy.
What we love most about this is that it’s something familiar…but it’s been given a twist from a different culture. That makes it approachable even to pickier eaters.
Drinks
Two of our favorite festival drinks are also returning this year, including the Frozen S’more, a chocolate milkshake with marshmallow syrup topped with mini marshmallows and a graham cracker crumble for $5.25. We’ve always seen this as a kid-pleasing shake, but it’s really more like a classic chocolate shake than anything. But the marshmallows are a super fun add-on.
Finally, one of our favorite festival drinks, the Irish Milk Shake has returned. It’s made with Guinness Stout, Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur, and Vanilla Ice Cream for $13. It also comes in a souvenir cup. This is one of those drinks that gets better with each sip. It’s light and creamy, and that Baileys really comes through, especially at the end of each sip. If you want a boozy drink perfect for a hot day, this is it.
So, how does Festival Favorites stack up overall?
OVERALL
There’s a reason this booth is called Festival FAVORITES because the menu items here are ones that have been popular at multiple EPCOT festivals — and for good reason. Everything here is still solid, and if you’ve got kids, they’ll appreciate the Frozen S’mores while adults can indulge in the Irish Milk Shake. We also think the fried cheese is a good addition to the menu here.
We’re signing off from Festival Favorites for now, but remember, there’s a LOT more where this came from…
