A big change just happened in Magic Kingdom, and we’re not sure how we feel about it.
If Tomorrowland is your first stop in the morning for TRON Lightcycle / Run, or your catch to take a break in the afternoon with the PeopleMover, you might have noticed a big red spaceship close to the Tomorrowland Speedway. Well, it looks like this rocket blasted off!
Cool Ship was a misting spaceship that we ran straight to during those hot summer months. It was also attached to a small quick-service counter with bottled water and drinks. They served plenty of ice cream and popcorn, too!
We noticed a few months ago that the entire area was covered with construction walls, and then we saw that it had been completely removed. What happened to our beloved Cool Ship?
When we were riding the PeopleMover, we noticed that a new structure was up and that Cool Ship had a whole new look! There’s not a bright red rocket on top, but we can still see the idea of a shapeship on it, with its modern curves and details.
It also looks like it’s still going to be a small food stand, but this time, there are more windows, hopefully meaning that the inside is packed with air conditioning for the Cast Members. The colors are also bright and fun with the teal and red accents.
There is currently no reopening date, but according to the Disney World website, it is scheduled to reopen sometime later this year. The previous menu is listed, but we’re not sure if there are going to be new changes coming.
While Cool Ship is under construction, don’t forget to check out the Lunching Pad for some quick bites. They have pretzels (including a Cream Cheese Warm Stuffed Pretzel), hot dogs, fountain drinks, and more.
We’ll be keeping an eye out to see what happened to Cool Ship and if a new menu is coming along with it. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more.

I’m a little sad about this. I was told (but can’t remember who by, maybe on the Keys to the Kingdom tour 25 years ago) that the spaceship was reused from the film “Flight of the Navigator” and painted red. It was a great film from the 80s and fun to see a bit of film making history in real life.
It looks pretty cool! See what I did there? Haha!
I can’t wait to try the stuffed pretzels and that hot dog….yum
