For decades now, variants of the Monte Cristo sandwich have been an iconic staple of Disneyland’s food offerings. In my 7 years of covering Disney theme parks, it’s often been one of the first food offerings mentioned to me about the park, along with churros, beignets, and DOLE Whip. Over the years, the sandwich has come and gone from certain menus at the park, but recently, we were overjoyed to find it back as a quick service option.

In recent weeks, a quick-service version of the classic Monte Cristo has become available at New Orleans Square’s Royal Street Veranda. The sandwich is the traditional mix of ingredients served at the park, as the offering is filled with ham, turkey, and Swiss Cheese, all between slices of egg bread dusted with Powdered Sugar and served with jam.

The Royal Street Veranda Monte Cristo is priced at $13.99, seemingly a bargain compared with the $26 table service Monte Cristo offering at Cafe Orleans.

While it is necessary to stress that the latter includes the choice of pommes frites or a petite salad, the quick service offering is a good deal all the same.

In fact, it could be argued that, thanks to its quality and historic popularity at the resort, the Royal Street Veranda’s Monte Cristo may be the best quick-service option currently available at Disneyland. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney menu updates.
