There are so many Disney World Resorts to choose from, it’s hard to know which ones are the best for you and your family.
We have a lot of opinions are resorts since we’ve stayed at them all and keep track of new updates and changes to make sure they’re as great as we remember. There are three resorts right now that people are avoiding until the dust settles — literally.
One resort people are avoiding is The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa because of the construction. The lobby is currently under refurbishment to bring in “Victorian-inspired borders and scrollwork featuring hand-drawn florals inspired by turn-of-the-century botanical studies.” There will also be updated furniture, carpets, and accents around the staircase and front desk.
They’re also adding a lobby bar, inspired by the lobby’s iconic birdcage. We’re excited to see all the details, like the colorful birds in the stained glass.
Because of all the construction, the lobby definitely feels a little different when you’re greeted with massive walls and noise. The iconic gingerbread house display will also not be returning in 2025, so families are holding off until the resort is back to normal. With the gingerbread display being canceled this year, we can expect 2026 to be even busier than normal, so waiting till 2027 might be the way to go.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is also having some construction done. Guest rooms at Kidani Village are going under refurbishment and are expected to open in May 2026.
After that, Jambo House will be getting its turn for a refurb! From May 2026 to January 2027, construction is going to be happening, so don’t be surprised if you hear some noises you normally don’t at the peaceful Animal Kingdom Lodge.
The Zebra Trail Terrace is also having some work done, hopefully to be finished around mid-September 2025. That’s a lot of construction going on, and if you’re going to be spending the money to stay at either of these Deluxe Resorts, you’ll want to make sure it’s worth the price and you’re getting the most out of your trip.
There’s ANOTHER resort that has some work being done! At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, certain areas of the resort, including the villas and bungalows, are undergoing refurbishment until 2026. They even said, “Some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted.” Ah!
If you’re staying at the Polynesian, trust us, you want that view! Waiting till 2027 assures you won’t hear any construction and get the gorgeous views of the Magic Kingdom and the water.
