A new Disney Villains-themed land is coming to Magic Kingdom, and that means we could see some major rule changes on the horizon!
Disney World has an entire code of conduct for visitors to follow during their vacations, but they also have important policies for how the parks operate. And with an all-new land based on spooky concepts, these rules might get shaken up!
New Virtual Queues?
New land openings often draw MASSIVE crowds to Disney World, and Villains Land is going to be no different, especially since it’s something that Disney Adults have been hoping to get in the parks. In the past, one of the most common ways Disney has managed crowds for a grand opening season was with virtual queues.
Virtual queues have often been used for ride openings in recent years, lasting until some of the hype dies down. But they could also be put in place to manage crowds in the land as a whole. If Disney doesn’t offer some kind of reservation system or queue, then they run the risk of everyone in the park heading for the new land at the same time.
Cosplaying and Costumes
Back when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge first opened, Disney had to release some new guidelines about what visitors were allowed to wear in the park. They guessed that many fans would want to dress up to visit the new land, and they were right. So we won’t be surprised if they have to do the same for Villains Land.
It’s already in the listed rules that visitors aren’t allowed to dress in full costume (unless you’re coming to a special event in the park) or wear masks. You’re also not able to wear clothes that drag on the ground. But with a new Villains space in the parks, we’re expecting there to be quite a few creative Disneybounds!
Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours
If you’re staying at a Disney World Resort, you can get a benefit in the form of extra time in the parks! All Disney World Resorts get Early Theme Park Entry, while the Deluxe Resorts offer the perk of Extended Evening Hours. And we’ll be interested to see if Villains Land is open during these times!
Of course, if Villains Land IS open during those extra hours, Disney may need to establish rules or capacity limits so that everyone doesn’t overcrowd the area.
New Lightning Lane Tiers
What about the Lightning Lane system with the new land? Well, it’s likely that the new attractions will either fall into Lightning Lane Single Pass bookings or land as Tier 1 attractions for Lightning Lane Multi Pass. This could change up the lineup for Lightning Lanes in Magic Kingdom pretty significantly.
We may also see these new rides kept off the Lightning Lane system altogether, at least during the popular opening period. Currently, we don’t have much information about the rides, but based on the concept art, one looks to be a roller coaster!
What About the Cast Members?
One final question we have about rule changes has to do with the Cast Members! Currently, they travel from location to location around Magic Kingdom by utilizing the famous underground tunnels, the Utilidor System. But those tunnels don’t currently reach as far as Villains Land.
Will Disney be expanding the Utilidor System? Or will they allow Villains Land Cast Members to cross parts of the park in their costumes? Will there be a new backstage area where they can enter from behind? We admit, we’re a little curious!
Any time a new land is added to a park, we can expect some changes. We’ll be interested to see how Villains Land affects Magic Kingdom!
