Last month at the 2025 Destination D23 event, Disney announced that the Magic Kingdom’s Carousel of Progress is about to undergo a massive refresh and refurbishment that will see the addition of a Walt Disney animatronic intro, as well as upgrades throughout, and likely a new finale.

Longtime Disney fans (including myself, as I’ve been visiting the resort for over 30 years) rejoiced at the news, as it has long been desired. That got us thinking, what other Disney World attractions are at the top of the list for potential refurbishment?
We asked our readers which Disney World ride is most in need of refurbishment now, and as you’d expect, we received a litany of answers.
By far, the most common was Space Mountain. Many readers said the classic Tomorrowland coaster desperately needs a refurbishment due to its jerky nature. As reader Judi so eloquently put it, the ride “requires a chiropractic adjustment after every ride so we avoid it now.” Reader Skip added that the ride “needs a whole new track like Big Thunder is getting.”
Space Mountain 50th Anniversary
While none quite had the same amount of votes as Space Mountain, there were several other rides that were mentioned. For example, a cadre of readers called for Journey Into Imagination to return to its former glory, including the return of the Dreamfinder and a more traditional take on Figment. As reader Yvon put it, “…we need to get back to include the Dream finder again and actually make it a ride that is imaginative, rather than this heartless boring ride with creepy moon face.”
