ALERT: Disney Is Playing Mac and Cheese Musical Chairs, and This Is Where Our FAVORITE Snack Just Ended Up

Disney World likes to shake up its restaurants and menus from time to time, even if it occasionally means getting rid of some fan favorite snacks (fortunately, those sometimes come back later).

Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork

Well, a few months ago, Disney decided to basically take two of its eateries in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and switch their menus up, which meant the Mac and Cheese disappeared from Eight Spoon Cafe, while Mac and Cheese was added to The Smiling Crocodile (and a menu similar to The Smiling Crocodile’s previous menu appeared at Eight Spoon Cafe). It was all very confusing, but we got used to it. Now, OF COURSE, though, Disney has swapped these two menus AGAIN, and now the Mac and Cheese we love has returned to Eight Spoon Cafe. Are you dizzy yet? We are!

So here’s what’s happening. The Smiling Crocodile just made the following menu changes:

REMOVED: Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Buffalo Chicken, Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Garlic Smoked Sausage, and Baked Macaroni & Cheese
ADDED: Smoked Chicken Wings — Three Smoked Wings coated in Tangy Barbecue Sauce and served with House-made Chips and Pickles for $7.99
ADDED: Pulled Pork Sliders — Pulled Pork with Tangy Barbecue Sauce on Hawaiian Rolls with House-made Chips and Pickles for $7.99

So, that wonderful Baked Macaroni & Cheese that we love is now gone from The Smiling Crocodile, while Smoked Chicken Wings and Pulled Pork Sliders are now available. Personally, I would prefer this location bring back the tacos, because they were AMAZING.

The Smiling Crocodile

At Eight Spoon Cafe, the following changes happened:

ADDED: Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork — Topped with Crispy Onions for $12.99
ADDED: Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Buffalo Chicken — Topped with Tangy Italian Relish and Blue Cheese for $12.99

Yep, the Baked Macaroni & Cheese is back here, but the version with the Garlic Smoked Sausage didn’t make the cut.

Eight Spoon Cafe

We decided to stop by Eight Spoon Cafe to make sure the two Mac & Cheeses that are still available are up to snuff. The Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork has beautifully tender pork with some onion straws on top that add texture and crunch. The slaw is also tasty and adds even more texture to the creamy macaroni and cheese. The barbecue sauce is really good, too, so much so that you’ll want to make sure to scoop some up with each bite. There’s also not too much of it, which we liked.

It’s BACK

We had to dig to find it, but there’s a layer of baked cheese near the bottom that proved to be just the extra cheesiness we needed. This may have something to do with the way the Mac & Cheese is scooped out and served, but it’s worth the extra digging…trust us.

SO good

Yes, this dish is simple, but it delivers on what it promises. And we’re just happy that it hasn’t disappeared for good. Maybe Disney will eventually make up its mind where it wants to serve its Mac & Cheese in Animal Kingdom.
