Before you head on a Disney World vacation, you need to know what your options are as far as dining goes. And that’s particularly important when it comes to dining at your hotel!
You’ll want to know what you can find to eat in the morning before you hit the parks, as a late-night option when you’re ready to have a snack and collapse in bed, or a midday meal during your day chilling at the hotel. For those staying at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, there’s one quick service spot that we’re going to put on your radar — a place where you can have a meal, snag a specialty coffee, or enjoy a FROYO BAR. Oh yeah, that’s right!
Atmosphere
For this review, we’re heading to Fuel at the Walt Disney World Dolphin. This hotel is located in the EPCOT resort area, but it’s owned by Marriott. The great thing about staying here is that this group of hotels gets many Disney Resort perks. And today, we’re here to show you what’s in store with their dining options!
Fuel is located indoors on the second floor of the resort. You’ll need to go inside the back entrance and go up the escalator, or you can enter through the main entrance and come out directly into the second-floor lobby.
Fuel is part coffee shop, part quick service restaurant, part convenience store. It’s a rather interesting setup! They have a counter where you can order hot food, pastries, and specialty beverages. There’s also a section of the restaurant where you can pick up some grab-and-go options! They have prepackaged snacks, bottled drinks, and more. They even have a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine in here!
But one of the big draws to Fuel is its frozen yogurt bar! They have multiple options, but one of the biggest draws is DOLE WHIP!
And once you’ve got all your food, you can dine here at the restaurant’s small seating area, or you can find a spot to sit in the lobby. But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
On the menu, you’ll find a variety of options beyond the prepackaged items available for purchase. First, there’s an entire menu of specialty coffee beverages that you can order.
There’s also an entire Breakfast menu available.
And we can’t forget the Sandwiches!
Cheese and Pepperoni Pizzas are also available after 5 PM.
There’s also a large list of Pastries and Desserts available (with a personal favorite quote of ours: “Life is short. Eat dessert first.”
And now, onto the main event — the food!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the French Connection for $14. This is made with shaved ham, fresh chevre, and fig jam on a croissant.
The amount of ham on this is WILD — easily an inch to an inch and a half thick — but the layer of cheese was pretty thin. We didn’t totally mind that, but if you’re looking for more of a balanced flavor, it’s something to keep in mind. The jam adds some great sweetness, but it does make the sandwich a little messy, and we enjoyed how soft and fluffy the croissant is, although we do think it could have been the slightest big fresher.
Of course, we also had to try out the Frozen Yogurt and Dole Whip station, and we grabbed a mix of the two. There are six flavors available here: Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, New York Cheesecake, Caramel Corn, and Pineapple Dole Whip. You can pick 1-2 flavors, and there are 10 different toppings to choose from.
We grabbed the Pineapple Dole Whip and New York Cheesecake frozen yogurt, and topped it with rainbow sprinkles and toasted nuts. It made a flavor similar to a tropical cheesecake, which we loved! The Dole Whip was exactly what you’d expect from normal Dole Whip, though we do think it could have used a bit more creaminess, and the New York Cheesecake frozen yogurt had a fantastic cream cheese flavor to it.
These blended together perfectly, and we love that this station allows you to create your own sweet treat, in a way!
Drinks
To drink, we picked up the Iced Caramel Chai Latte for $7.55.
There’s an entire coffee bar in this spot where you can customize your drink with different syrups and flavors. However, you really need to mix your drink up, because all our syrup fell to the bottom, and before we mixed it up, it was super watered down and flavorless. Once we DID mix it, though, the caramel flavor came through, and it paired very well with the chai.
It wasn’t our favorite chai we’ve had in the parks, but it was pretty solid!
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You’re staying at the Swan and Dolphin or in the area
- You’re trying to appease a large group of people
- You want Dole Whip on tap
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You’re not over near the Swan and Dolphin resort
- You want to dine at a sit-down restaurant
- You want a restaurant that has plenty of seating directly connected to it
Overall
This is a great spot for those looking for a variety of different options, and/or just need something quick. If you need a pick-me-up before heading into the parks, or maybe you want a bite to eat later in the day, this is a great choice.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
