Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary celebration is still in full swing, and we’re loving checking out all the new snacks and drinks around the resort.
All the fun treats aren’t only found in Disneyland, though, because there are also loads of delicious options over in Disney California Adventure you don’t want to miss! In fact, you may overlook Hollywood Lounge and its offerings, but we’re here to tell you that giving these 70th Anniversary items a chance is a great option.
Atmosphere
Hollywood Lounge is located behind Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!, and it’s home to themed drinks that rotate depending on the season. There are both non-alcoholic and alcoholic options, so everyone can join in on the fun!
Food is also available to order at the lounge, though, so if you need something to eat, don’t forget to take a look at what they have. It’s possible this area may not be around for much longer, as Mike & Sulley to the Rescue will soon be closing to make way for the new Avatar land coming to the park.
There’s not a TON of seating nearby, but the little that is available is mostly shaded, and that earns some major points in our book.
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
Currently, they’ve got lots of summer-themed drinks on the menu, as well as one food option — Chicharrones. However, when we were in person, there were more items listed on their physical menu for the 70th Anniversary! It’s important to note that you can order the food at Hollywood Lounge, but you’ll pick it up at Studio Catering Co.
This spot is definitely more well-known for its drinks, not its food, but we recommend stopping by regardless to see what’s on the menu during your visit.
And now, onto the main event — the food!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the Western-Style Loaded Potato for $9.29. This is a Creamy Baked Potato with Garlic Butter, Charro-Style Beans, Shredded Cheese, Sour Cream, Green Onions, and Sliced Jalapeños. It’s VERY large and you can very much taste the garlic, which we liked. It’s a very solid baked potato, and we loved the amount of sour cream and cheese on top. It’s going to be very filling, and if you’re a fan of baked potatoes, it’s totally worth the grab!
We also grabbed the Lomo Saltado Burrito for $13.99, which is Peruvian-inspired lomo saltado stir-fry, shoestring French fries, and Serrano-lime rice, wrapped in a warm flour tortilla, served with Serrano hot sauce.
The meat here was nicely seasoned and cooked well, the rice had a great citrus flavor, and all the ingredients worked well together, but WOW is it hot! That heat lingers and really overpowers everything else. The shoestring fries were also thicker than we wanted, especially since we don’t think they added anything to the burrito.
Overall, we think $14 is EXPENSIVE for this one, but it is shareable, so if you enjoy spice, give it a try!
Drinks
To drink, we picked up the Celebration Cocktail for $19.50, which is made with Tequila, Rum, Vodka, and Glittery Blue Raspberry Lemonade, topped with Sprite® and garnished with a Cherry. Definitely stir this one up, as otherwise the flavors won’t mix well together, but the blue raspberry and lemonade are super apparent here! The Sprite gives it a seltzer texture, and overal,l this is a really nice summer libation that we recommend.
Finally, we grabbed the Disneyland 70th Celebration Acrylic Flute for $18, which is Sparkling Wine with Violet & Dragon Fruit Syrups and Lemon Juice Served in a Flute. First of all, the flute this is served in is GORGEOUS, and we loved the floral flavor of it, but we know it won’t be for everyone.
The violet is the most prominent flavor, as the lemon is very subtle. The sparkling wine is very refreshing, and overall, this is the drink you’ll want to snap that photo of and post on Instagram to make your friends jealous back home.
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You’re looking for a quick, unique drink
- You want to sit in a quieter spot in the park
- You want to experience this restaurant before it (potentially) goes away for good!
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You’re not into specialty drinks, alcoholic or not
- You won’t be in DCA
- You’re looking for a spot with more dining options
Overall
We think this is definitely a spot worth checking out, especially for the 70th Anniversary if you’re looking to grab that specialty flute, or you know you’re a fan of spice or baked potatoes. It’s also a good spot if you want something a little out of the way, because lots of people don’t even know this restaurant exists!
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disneyland and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
