Oh, Southwest Airlines, you have really embraced the whole idea of change, and not exactly in a way that many of your customers approve of lately.
Now, many folks were torn when Southwest announced that it would be getting rid of its open seating policy and start selling assigned seats. However, many Southwest fans were LIVID when Southwest Airlines announced that it was ending its free checked bags policy (and I’m still angry about it, personally). Well, Southwest is at it again and making even MORE changes…but at least this one is one we might actually like.
If you’re a fan of Peet’s Coffee, you’ll be able to enjoy a cup of Peet’s SOON on your next Southwest Airlines flight. On August 13th, Peet’s will be the official Southwest Airlines in-flight coffee partners. And unlike everything else, at least the coffee is still free! So you’ll want to take advantage of that when you fly.
Of course, you’ll have to drink a lot of cups of coffee to make up for those bag fees you had to pay, right? Granted, you can still get free checked bags if you book a more expensive premium fare that includes checked bags, use a Rapid Rewards credit card (which has an annual fee of $99), or earn Elite status. So maybe not all is lost. And at least the coffee will be good.

Doesn’t make a difference what coffee they serve because I won’t be flying them. I’ve looked at their prices and they haven’t gotten any lower now that they are offering less. So why would I pay more for less?
Southwest can keep their coffee, baggage fees, and premium coach seats.
I have no issue telling these hedge fund power players that squeezing customers for every penny is going to cost them.
For me, the cup of coffee IS NOT a draw! I’d love to hear what others think!
Am I right about charging over weight passengers DOUBLE?! Seventy-five per cent of Americans are over-weight for heaven sakes. How (and WHO) determines if you’re “too-fat-to-fly”? Will a tape measure and scales be present in front of God and everyone to determine that? What if an agent is having a bad day and decides to body shame a passenger? The airlines shrunk their seats to get more money out of people, and now this!!! Is 20 lbs too much? Fifty? Shaquille O’Neils out there beware!
