I used to be a Disney Cast Member, and did you know that Cast Members have their own secret language at Disney World?

Cast Members!
It’s true! Disney World employees communicate with a secret language, and we’re going to pull back the curtain to let you in on the secret. So next time you’re at Disney World, keep an ear out and see if you can pick up on any of these codes.
Before we get into it, we just want to let you know that some of these things you may want to remain blissfully unaware of…so read on at your own risk. Alright, there’s your warning, let’s get into it!

CODE A
If you hear a Cast Member calling Code A, it means a Cast Member has spotted human ashes. Yeah, you heard that right. Spreading human remains at any Disney Park is strictly against the rules, but it still happens every now and then — especially at the Haunted Mansion. If a guest does spread human remains on a ride, Cast Members will shut it down to get the ashes taken care of.

CODE 101
Mark this one down, because it’s a great one to know! Code 101 means a ride is temporarily shutting down. So, if you hear a Cast Member say the ride you’re in line for just went 101, you may want to consider heading to another queue, unfortunately.

CODE V
Take a wild guess at what Code V could mean. Here’s a hint: Code V is most commonly used around spinning attractions. You’ll hear it at rides like the Mad Tea Party, or where Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind and Mission Space reside (as we like to call it, EPCOT’s barf alley). Code V…V…VOMIT! If a Code V happens on a ride, the attraction may close down temporarily so it can be cleaned.

Cast Members have numerous tasks and daily responsibilities, so they use many codes to communicate more easily with each other (and not to panic guests). Now you know, too! For more Disney tips and tricks, be sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog.

Treasured Guest: A Treasure Guest is code for a pain in the neck, or perhaps a little lower “back pain.”
I worked in a Disney Store for fifteen years and then at the park . When we used the word customer’ it didn’t mean a shopper. To this day when I hear it I immediately know to find cast member or security.
In my day a code V was referred to as a protein spill.
It is probably unique to the Recreation teams around the resort pools, but another unpleasant code is AFR. It involves an Accidental Release, usually by small children who really should have been wearing a swim diaper, into the water. If you don’t hear the code, you can still recognize it by the Cast Members using a long-poled net and a biohazard bag to clean up the mess.
One bit of advice, if the Cast Member asks you to exit the pool, just do it. They really are not trying to ruin your vacation.
