Disney just announced the latest data on its streaming service — Disney+.
During the earnings call for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 (held on August 6th), Disney announced that Disney+ was a success during the third quarter of 2025. Here’s what you need to know.
The Walt Disney Company reported earnings for its third fiscal quarter, which ended June 28th, 2025. While the Company commented on everything from its Experiences business to its Entertainment division, we’re going to focus on the Disney+ streaming data.

Disney+ falls into the Entertainment segment of The Walt Disney Company. For the third fiscal quarter, revenue for Disney’s entertainment segment (traditional TV networks, direct-to-consumer streaming, and films) increased by 1% to $10.7 billion. The direct-to-consumer streaming business revenue was up 6% to $6.18 billion, but the overall entertainment segment was impacted by the traditional TV sector, where revenue dropped 15% to $2.27 billion.
A bright spot in the data came from Disney+, where 1.8 million new subscribers joined the service, increasing the total to about 128 million.

The Walt Disney Company expects a “modest increase” in Disney+ subscribers for the upcoming fourth quarter. Further, Disney expects Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions to increase by more than 10 million compared to the current period.

Disney also saw success with its Hulu streaming service, where total Hulu subscribers grew 1% to 55.5 million.

Disney CFO Hugh Johnston recently told CNBC that he expects the new streaming service to be “accretive to overall earnings growth,” further solidifying Disney’s slow and steady wins in the streaming department.

Disney’s traditional TV business negatively impacted the entertainment sector. The total operating income for the linear networks, including networks like ABC and FX, decreased by 28% to $697 million. Disney stated that the TV business was impacted by a decline in advertising revenue due to lower viewership and rates.

Overall, Disney’s streaming business reported a mostly successful quarter. Disney+ saw an increase in subscribers, as did Hulu. According to Disney CFO Hugh Johnston, who spoke with CNBC on August 6th, Disney+ continues to be a stronger and stronger service. CEO Bob Iger also pointed to the success of the Disney+ Hulu bundle and noted that a unified Disney+ and Hulu streaming app experience will be available next year.

Further, thanks to a new partnership, ESPN content can be watched directly inside Disney+ (with certain subscriptions). It’ll be interesting to see just how the service continues to develop in the future. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
