The Walt Disney Company is no stranger to lawsuits.

Several months ago, the Portland Pickles Baseball Team sued the Walt Disney Company over a trademark infringement claim that ties to the show Win or Lose on Disney+. The lawsuit has now been settled, according to court documents.
According to KGW8 news, the Portland Pickles and Walt Disney Company lawsuit has finally ended. The lawsuit was originally filed on May 7th, 2025, with the U.S. District Court of Oregon, and it accused Disney of trademark infringement regarding the show Win or Lose.

The show centers around a middle school softball team called the Pickles in the week leading up to their championship game. According to the Portland Pickles team, Disney “developed, marketed and sold merchandise bearing logos and themes that are substantially and confusingly similar to plaintiff’s Pickles marks.” They called this issue “a classic case of David vs. Goliath” and referenced merchandise sold at Target, Walmart, and Kohl’s.

The complaint said, “Founded in Portland, Oregon, the Pickles baseball team began as a local summer league club and quickly captured the hearts of fans not just in the city, but across the country and beyond. With a commitment to community, creativity, and fun, the Pickles have built an identity rooted in homegrown baseball and fueled by a passionate following.” The court documents that confirmed the case was settled did not detail the terms of the settlement, including a dollar amount or injunction terms.
