There’s always something changing in Disney World, but sometimes we start to wonder if a few things are being left behind.
Magic Kingdom has seen a ton of updates lately, and even more are coming. But while some areas are getting the glow-up treatment, others seem to be sitting in a weird limbo. We’re starting to get a little nervous about two attractions that have us raising eyebrows lately… and maybe you should be too.
Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor
This Tomorrowland attraction has always been a hidden gem. It’s interactive, air-conditioned, and genuinely funny. The live improv comedy with Monsters, Inc. characters — especially Mike Wazowski — makes every show a little different, and guests get to text in their own jokes for a chance to have them read during the show.
It’s especially great for families with younger kids who might not be ready for big thrill rides. But here’s the issue: Nothing major has changed in years, and the theater is rarely full unless the park is slammed.
Now here’s where it gets interesting — Disney’s bringing a Monsters, Inc. land to Hollywood Studios, and in the concept art? A very familiar-looking “Laugh Floor” sign. That’s led to a lot of speculation that this show might be getting relocated — or even replaced — in Magic Kingdom.
If Laugh Floor becomes part of a fully themed area over in another park, its days in Tomorrowland might be numbered. It wouldn’t be the first time a fan-favorite attraction got moved or swapped out. And if the show’s creative energy is being redirected to something new at Hollywood Studios, then… yeah, we’re worried.
Mickey’s PhilharMagic
Over in Fantasyland, Mickey’s PhilharMagic has been delivering catchy music and Disney nostalgia since 2003. The 3D musical show follows Donald Duck as he crashes through various Disney movies — The Lion King, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and more — all while trying to wrangle Mickey’s sorcerer’s hat.
It’s charming, it’s cool (literally), and it’s a great way to rest your feet for 10 minutes. But here’s the deal — the visuals and animation are starting to show their age. The style varies dramatically between scenes, and even with the addition of the Coco segment in 2021, the rest of the show hasn’t really been touched in over two decades.
For a park that constantly updates experiences to reflect newer characters and movies, PhilharMagic is starting to feel like an old DVD you forgot in the back of a cabinet. We love Donald. We love the music. But this show desperately needs some polish — or at least a few more scenes that tie in newer Disney films. If it doesn’t get attention soon, it could quietly slip into irrelevance while other attractions evolve.
Meanwhile… Big Changes ARE Happening at Magic Kingdom
While these two shows are showing signs of being left behind, the rest of Magic Kingdom is gearing up for its biggest transformation in decades. Piston Peak (the new Cars-themed land) is officially coming to Frontierland — taking over the space previously occupied by Tom Sawyer Island, Rivers of America, and the Liberty Square Riverboat.
This new area is inspired by Planes: Fire & Rescue (yes, that Cars spinoff), and will look like a National Park straight out of the Cars universe. Expect massive waterfalls, rugged mountains, car-themed buildings made from salvaged wagon wheels, and shade — lots of glorious shade.

Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race.
It’ll feature two new attractions:
- A rally race ride that sends guests on a bumpy, splashy adventure through mountain trails and geysers. The queue will wind through an A-frame lodge and feature a brand-new animatronic ranger character.
- A family-friendly ride designed for “smaller racers” with its own interactive pre-show inside a park ranger station.

Also on deck: Villains Land, a dark, immersive expansion planned just beyond Big Thunder Mountain. This land will be home to some of Disney’s most iconic baddies — from Maleficent and Ursula to Jafar and Hades — and feature two massive attractions, plus themed dining and shopping.
No timeline has been confirmed, but construction prep is already underway.

Even Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is getting a major refresh soon.
You can expect:
- A brand new “Buddy” support-bot character
- Upgraded vehicles with real-time score displays
- Handheld blasters with laser targeting
- Interactive targets that light up and react when hit

So, Where Does That Leave Laugh Floor and PhilharMagic?
Magic Kingdom’s future is looking bold and packed with innovation — but not everything is moving forward. Laugh Floor and PhilharMagic both feel like they’re either being prepped for relocation, replacement, or possibly retirement. Neither has been a major marketing focus, and when you look at what is coming, their place in the lineup starts to feel a little shaky.
If you love these shows, now’s a good time to go see them. Because with so many new things on the horizon, we wouldn’t be shocked if these two slowly fade into Disney history. We love these attractions — truly. But loving something also means wanting the best for it. And right now, these two feel like they’re either being slowly shuffled offstage or hanging out in the back while the rest of the park gets all the attention.

There is NOTHING wrong with Mickey’s Philharmagic! Little slices of movies you loved evoke nothing but sweet memories.
I pray they dont get rid of Philarmagic. It’s a highlight of a day in MK.
It can accommodate crowds in a downpour too.
I think they need to update Speedway to electric cars
PHILHARMAGIC IS A TREASURE! YES THE SEATS COULD USE AN OVERHAUL BECAUSE YOU DONT GET THE SPRAY AND SCENT LIKE BEFORE(IN ALL SEATS) BUT THIS TRULY IS A GEM! AGREE, MAKE SPEEDWAY Ev!
Philharmagic is truly a creative attraction in the traditional sense of Imagineering. Update the technology yes, but leave the content alone!
I have never seen the Laugh Floor empty or even sparsely attended. Both the Laugh Floor and Philharmagic are wonderful opportunities to sit, enjoy entertainment and recall what Disney magic is all about. Both of these are Disney gems
