The Fantastic Four: First Steps landed in theaters on July 25th and has already broken box office records!
If you’re visiting Disneyland soon, you can meet these superheroes in the park for a limited time, and you don’t want to miss the exclusive snacks you can grab for the film at select theaters. Speaking of seeing the movie in theaters, we knew that a couple of new popcorn buckets would be released at AMC — but we can’t believe people are actually paying $80 (!!!) for this one.
The new Galactus Popcorn Vessel landed at AMC Theatres at the same time as The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and we honestly can’t believe people are paying $80 for it. This thing is MASSIVE, measuring in at 20″ wide (9.6″ wide without horns), 17.5″ tall, and 9.6″ deep, it’s seriously one of the biggest popcorn buckets we’ve ever seen.
Marketed as AMC’s “largest popcorn container ever,” the Galactus Popcorn Bucket includes LED light-up eyes and removable horns. It’s broken both size and price records for popcorn buckets, which makes it pretty collectible. In addition, the bucket holds a massive 9 liters, or 361 oz., of popcorn and is shaped like the movie’s villain — Galactus.
You can also purchase this popcorn bucket online from AMC Theatres, and it’s available for preorder now. The final production of this bucket will include a special Holographic sticker, with Guinness World Records authenticating this as being the BIGGEST popcorn bucket made, along with a printed certificate!
Ben Fritz, journalist from The Wall Street Journal, told NPR that these snack and drink vessels have “very big profit margins,” and have made a big difference for theaters looking to recover from pandemic-era losses: “They’re essentially well-designed pieces of plastic, and they’re selling them for 50 bucks, 80 bucks… It’s a good profit for the theaters.”
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more ridiculous popcorn buckets you need to know about! Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more.
