If you’re planning a Disney World vacation soon, there is something you need to watch out for at Magic Kingdom.

Disney Starlight crowds!
If you’ve got a Disney World trip planned anytime soon, you need to hear this: your Magic Kingdom evening strategy is about to get completely flipped upside down. Why? Two words: Disney Starlight.
Yes, Disney has officially rolled out a brand-new nighttime offering at Magic Kingdom, and while it’s magical, it’s also causing some major traffic chaos once the sun goes down. Let’s break it all down and I’ll share what you need to know to dodge the gridlock and still catch the magic.

Magic Kingdom crowds
The Starlight Parade is the newest addition to the Magic Kingdom nighttime lineup, and it’s already pulling huge crowds. Think glowing floats, character-filled scenes, and music that will be stuck in your head for days (in the best way possible). It kicks off right on Main Street, U.S.A., winds past the Hub, and finishes up in Frontierland. The parade runs nightly at 9 PM and 11 PM (yes, two showings!), and guests are lining up super early to claim front-row curb spots.

Disney Starlight Crowds
As if things weren’t wild enough, Happily Ever After, the fan-favorite fireworks show, still goes off at 10 PM — meaning you now have parade crowds merging with fireworks crowds, all in the same tight timeframe. That stretch between 8:00 PM and 11:15 PM is a crowd control nightmare around the Hub, Main Street, and most of the central park walkways.

So. Many. People.
This also causes pathways to close earlier for parade prep and traffic to be rerouted near the Castle and Liberty Square. There is also stroller parking, which is limited, and cast members are actively directing guest flow.
If You Want To Catch the Parade, Check Out These Tips:
- Pick the 11 PM showing. The later parade is less packed than the 9 PM one because many families head out after the fireworks.
-
Watch from Frontierland. While Main Street has the most “Disney feel,” Frontierland is way less crowded, and you’ll still get the full experience.
-
Mobile order dinner early. Snag a table near Pecos Bill or Columbia Harbour House and eat while you wait —double win!
Want to Skip the Parade? Here’s Your Game Plan:
If your priority is low wait times or catching fireworks without feeling like a sardine, here’s what I’d do:
-
Hit rides during the first parade. Fantasyland and Tomorrowland are surprisingly calm during this time.
-
Head to Fantasyland for fireworks viewing. It’s less packed and you get great views of the fireworks.
-
Make your exit immediately after fireworks, or wait until after the 11 PM parade to avoid the massive exit crowds at the front of the park.
