There are few things more frustrating while traveling than having to go through your bags last minute to remove items that aren’t allowed to be stored in their carry-on luggage.
This can especially become an issue when flying back from Disney World, as there are a litany of possible souvenirs and other items available at the resort that can lead to problems going through airport security.

One of the most well-known Disney souvenirs to cause TSA issues in recent years are the special Coke bottles available in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
These special containers are shaped like thermal detonators, a Star Wars-universe explosive that bears a resemblance to real-life explosives. When Galaxy’s Edge first opened, there was even talk that the Coke bottles would be banned from flights due to the TSA’s rule, which stated, “Replica or inert explosives aren’t allowed in either carry-on or checked bags.”
After some back and forth, the TSA eventually decided not to ban the bottles, instead saying they were allowed in both checked and carry-on bags as long as they were empty. While agents have gotten more used to the bottles in the intervening 7 years, they often still prompt issues going through security, with fliers often required to pull them out of their bags.
Galaxy’s Edge Coke Bottles aren’t the only Disney souvenirs that could potentially cause issues. Some others include:
- Liquids: TSA rules say that containers of nonflammable liquids must be 3.4 ox or smaller be allowed in a carry-on. Meaning that any drinks, or cosmetics like those sold by Disney under the H20 brand or from Disney Springs stores like Basin in larger containers must be checked or left behind.
- Electronics: Most electronics are allowed in carry-ons; however, they need to be removed from the bag to pass through the X-Ray machine. The same goes for any electronic you purchase at Disney World, including things like Bluetooth speakers or the droids form Galaxy’s Edge.
Next time you’re making your way through airport security on the way home from Disney World, be cognizant of what’s in your carry-on bag that may cause issues. Stay tuned to DFB for more travel tips.
