When it comes to dining in Disneyland, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? Disney has it. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that too.

Disneyland
We recently stopped by Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is this character dining spot worth your time and money? Find out here!
Atmosphere
Over at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, you can find Storytellers Cafe! This restaurant is located near the hotel’s pool and right next to Napa Rose.

The entrance!
This table service is a character dining spot where you can meet Mickey Mouse…

He’s so cute!
…Minnie Mouse…

Hi Minnie!
…Pluto…

Here, boy!
…plus Chip…

We love you, Chip!
… and Dale!

Hey Dale! Where’s Chip?
This restaurant itself is a cozy, craftsman-style atmosphere with lots of seating.

Inside the Restaurant!
The restaurant is lively, but not too loud! It has tons of seating options, including traditional tabletops and booths. You can see tons of earthy inspiration throughout the tables, chairs, and even the carpet!

Want a seat by the fireplace?
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
This restaurant is a buffet-style dining spot where you can grab breakfast, brunch, or dinner! We stopped by for brunch, and it cost $55 per adult and $33 per child.

The buffet!
For brunch, you can find cold selections including a yogurt parfait bar, assorted cereals and milk, pastries, croissants, muffins, danishes, a seasonal vegetable salad, an artisanal composed salad, a smoked salmon bar, and fruits and berries.

The danishes!
For hot selections, you can grab steel-cut oats, eggs, and an omelet station, Chef’s special of the day, bacon, sausage, Mickey waffles, chili verde chilaquiles, hash browns, bread pudding with caramel sauce and creme anglaise, and a flatbread of the day!

Some breakfast options!
You can also find more kid-friendly options like chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, and french fries!

We’re hungry right now!
Options on the buffet are subject to change without notice, so be prepared before you head to the buffet. And now, onto the main event — the food!
Eats
During our stop by the buffet, we started with the make-your-own omelet bar! You can choose from whole eggs, egg whites, or vegan eggs. After that, you can add cheddar jack cheese, vegan cheese, bacon, sausage, chorizo, ham, soyrizo, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, jalapenos, tomatoes, avocados, spinach, and black olives.

The options for the omelet!
We grabbed traditional eggs with cheese, bell peppers, and bacon! Everything in here was super fresh and flavorful! The bell peppers were crispy, while the bacon had a savory flavor. The eggs were the perfect consistency for an omelet.

Our omelet!
It was also a decent-sized omelet if that’s what you’re looking for! We also tried the chilaquiles! There was a bit of a kick here, but nothing too strong. The salad and carnitas had bold flavors that we were really impressed by. They also weren’t soggy, which you tend to see with chilaquiles, so we were very pleased.

Our breakfast plate!
Our Mickey Waffle was cooked to perfection with a golden brown outside that offered an amazing crunch but a light and fluffy inside. It was also perfectly sweet without being overwhelming.

Another look at the buffet!
The other breakfast options were traditional yet tasty options that we enjoyed! During our brunch, we also grabbed a second plate with more traditional lunch options for anyone who isn’t the biggest breakfast fan. Brunch offerings are served from 11:00 AM to 1:15 PM. Breakfast only is served from 7 AM to 10:45 AM. If you want dinner only, grab your reservation from 4 PM to 9 PM.

Our lunch plate!
We grabbed the Top Sirloin, but sadly, we weren’t all that impressed with this one. While it visually looked like juicy, well-cooked cuts, we found ours to be pretty dry and bland. Luckily, the roasted turkey was the opposite of the sirloin! The turkey was moist with a salty and savory flavor, which we really appreciated after the sirloin.

A closer look at the sirloin!
We grabbed the Southwest Couscous Salad for some vegetables. This, as well as the other salads we tried, was super fresh, and the vegetables and pearl couscous felt very high quality. We noticed the Cast Members also constantly refilled each food item throughout our dining experience to ensure the food was fresh and warm.

A closer look at our salad.
There were several dessert options, but the one that blew us away was the Watermelon and Lime Sorbet! This was easily one of our favorites.

Our dessert plate!
It was a balanced mix of sweet and tart flavors. It also served as a lighter dessert option with fresh and vibrant flavors.

The sorbet!
There were so many options at this buffet, but these were the ones that seriously stood out.
Nosh or Not
This Disneyland restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You want to meet Disney characters
- You are craving a mix of familiar and adventurous items
- Or you’re staying at this resort!
You should skip this Disneyland spot if…
- You aren’t super close to the hotel
- You are trying to save some money
- Or if you have picky eaters that won’t get your money’s worth
Overall
We would definitely recommend booking your reservation for noon at the latest! We went at 12:50 PM, so we had less than an hour before last call, which makes it harder to get your money’s worth. Due to our later reservation, we on;y got to see each character one time, making the interactions feel rushed and short.

Another look at our delicious breakfast!
We loved the food and would go earlier for better character interactions. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disneyland and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
